One of the most damaging charges - that the anchorman allowed a liberal bias to taint his report - now is being reiterated publicly by his colleagues.

Taint his report? How do you "taint" something that's bad to begin with? Liberal bias created and drove the report.

The article calls the story on Bush "flawed"? ROTFL! It was not simply flawed, it was patently fraudulent, made up of "whole cloth".

It matters precious little how harshly Dan Rather is treated on his way out the door - he will only be their designated whipping boy for a season. What really matters is the endemic MSM problem with admitting when they have an agenda, admitting when they have treated a story with unmerited and undisclosed bias, and admitting when they have lied and/or embraced outright fraud.

So long as they fail to comprehensively address their systemic disregard for consistent, honest reportage, the institution will continue to wither on the vine even as people ignore them in swelling numbers.

"the flawed story on Bush".

The flawed story was a criminal act, which, if the republicans had done the same thing, would have sent the MSM into collective hysteria.

Let's not forget his election day madness about the Ohio tally. It was the most shameful, partisan, defeatist display I have ever seen.

"This is a hard time at CBS. People feel very sad that Dan is leaving. His leaving has pushed CBS to take a look at where the evolution of news is, and I think some people may not be prepared for that."

Susan Zirinsky

These people are pathetic. I have actually watched CBS news over the years. I did it to see how biases, worthless, and unprofessional it really had become.

Susan Zirinsky is typical of the liberals at CBS who turned the news division into their own private left-wing play toy. They did about 9 to 14 minutes of "hard news" every night, sometimes even less. Their news was terribly biased and horribly delivered.

They always wrapped up their segment with some "Liberal Commercial." Pick a left wing cause, that is what they ended their show with. Some examples:

- The "threat" of Christianity to America
- Not enough funding for breast cancer (but never, ever a story about the possible link of breast cancer to abortion)
- Gay rights
- Cheer leading for the Democrat politician of the day
- The evil nature of the US Military
- Women's, African, Chicano, "Queer and Trans-gendered" - Studies programs and why they are so wonderful

You're right, the article is scathing towards Dan Rather. This statement, however, sums up why they are finally speaking the truth:

A lot of people within CBS News - and outside CBS News - are angry about how the Bush story developed and was handled," said Sandy Socolow, former executive producer of the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. "They are angry that the news media as a whole - print as well as television - has been damaged. The credibility has been soiled, and God knows how long it's going to take to clean it up."

In reality, their credibility was lost long, long ago. They just refused to see it. They truly believed that if they marginalized talk radio, Republican politicians, and their critics, they could do anything they damn well pleased.

"I think it's tragic that a guy who worked as hard as he did would have his career capped like this, because the Bush report is going to be what he's remembered for," Fenton said.

How about "The Wall Within"?

Rather's been a liar for decades. How could he hold an important position at SeeBS and not be a liar?

Rather deserves each and every word of condemnation he gets and continues to make a fool of himself in public. The latest being his absurd performance on Letterman.

CBS News White House correspondent John Roberts:"And I think as people get further and further away from this, the really important stuff that happened in Dan's career will come into greater focus. ... Here is a man who's had one of the most important careers in the history of television news."

The idiotic excuses made in this article, by the dying and deceased, for a dead man, leave me gasping for air.

1. Rather's MSM media colleagues are furious with him because they see the MSM in a terrible crisis, losing market and prestige, and blame Rather for accelerating the decline. The problem goes way beyond Rather, but he is a convenient target for their anxiety and rage.

2. The most despicable remarks were those of John Roberts, unctuously praising Rather. Rememember, Roberts is hoping that the bosses at CBS will choose him as Rather's replacement. So, in his best Uriah Heep imitation, Roberts sucks up to the CBS powers-that-be, praising their discredited anchor as others condemn him.

A man like "ratherbiased" makes loads of enemies on both sides of the political aile. Now that's he's disgraced himself publicly and is "a power, no more" he's going to find out just how many there are.

And he won't be the one writing the history on this episode. Suffice to say that history will not be kind to rather.

Rather's cohorts know they are tarred by the same brush of bias and would prefer not to be closely aligned with the man.

"I think it's tragic that a guy who worked as hard as he did would have his career capped like this, because the Bush report is going to be what he's remembered for," Fenton said. "He'll carry this with him to his obituary. ... Tragic - that's the only word for it."

Spare me the pathetic whining. They did`nt have one ounce of concern when it came to President Bush. They were trying to destroy a man personally, they were trying,to in a sense, overthrow the US government through false accusations and yet they plead for sympathy when they got caught.

Rather was like a man blinded by love who walks into a crowded restaurant and proposes to a woman that views him as something she would scrape off the bottom of her shoe.In Rathers case it was hatred, not love, for the President and the Bush family as well as all Republicans in general.
Either way the result is the same,a fool.He deserves whatever scorn and ridicule he receives.
