Robert Casey Jr. Says He'll Run Against Santorum by KYW's Tony Romeo
Robert Casey Jr., being wooed by national Democrats to challenge incumbent Republican senator Rick Santorum for his US Senate seat from Pennsylvania, has decided to jump into the race.
Earlier this week, Governor Rendell was asked about the prospects for a fight over the Democratic nomination for US Senate:
I hope, in all cases, if we can avoid a Democratic primary, that would be a good result. But until anybody declares their intentions, its impossible. Im not going to pick up the phone and talk to other candidates until I hear that someone definitely wants to run.
After the governor made those remarks on Wednesday, former Pennsylvania treasurer (and former Republican) Barbara Hafer told the Associated Press she would run.
Then on Friday, when current treasurer Robert Casey Jr. also said he would run, Rendell did pick up the phone. Hafer has released a statement saying shell honor the governors wishes and stay out of the race.

I hate to disagree with the CW, but Casey has a name. Otherwise, he is a big dud. This guy could put the asleep into coma. Also, Fast Eddy could be in some trouble of his own if a certain ex-Steeler makes a run for govenor of PA.

I know there are a lot of Santorum bashers on this site. My personal experience is that politicians don't get any better than Mr. Santorum.
If you're looking for payback against a genuine conservative Senator then here is your chance to elect a true communist.

Casey is pro-life is he not? If so, Santorum is toast. Don't expect help from Specter. Santorum is such an idiot.
To: Ramcat
Santorum is a good Christian, one of the few politicians who I feel deserves my vote.

I was going to ask will Specter repay Santorum for his help or will he help out his ole friend Rendell and take a long fishing trip this campaign season.
To: nyg4168
Anybody wanna take bets that Specter won't go all out to help him?
To: Sub-Driver

interesting - after the next election Pennsylvania might have a pro-abortion Republican senator and a pro-life Democrat senator.

Do not confuse our disgust at a stupid political calculation on the part of Santorum with love for Casey. It is easier to forgive a curse than a betrayal. Santorum betrayed the base, it has a price. The GOP better start to deliver or there will be real trouble in 2006.
Campaign against abortion
Cut the judges budget/staff to wake them up
Cut the crap with Judaical nominees
Close the borders
Clamp down on Illegal Immigration
Cut the budget
The GOP has this year to deliver and none of these things are on the horizon.
