Re: "If you're looking for payback against a genuine conservative Senator then here is your chance to elect a true communist."

Do not confuse our disgust at a stupid political calculation on the part of Santorum with love for Casey. It is easier to forgive a curse than a betrayal. Santorum betrayed the base, it has a price. The GOP better start to deliver or there will be real trouble in 2006.

Campaign against abortion
Cut the judges budget/staff to wake them up
Cut the crap with Judaical nominees
Close the borders
Clamp down on Illegal Immigration
Cut the budget

The GOP has this year to deliver and none of these things are on the horizon.

What does this mean?
Am I forgetting something or was there a primary election ?
I'm pretty up to task on PA politics and I'd never heard of Tummey before he ran against Specter.
People had a chance to make up there mind and they did.
I'm not sure what part of the base you're from?

Yes.

That price is the loss of a conservative Republican in a Dem led state. That loss is the potential to make Penn a swing state in Presidential elections.

Not supporting Santorum is no better than supporting Spectre. You'll be equally wrong.

I like Santorum too, but I think Mark has a valid point; Daschle paid for his miscalculations and I'm afraid Rick will too. I hope not, but I'm afraid that will be the case - and I'm sure Specter doesn't feel that he owes anyone, including Santorum, anything.

We missed an opportunity to put a genuine conservative into the Senate in place of Specter, but W and Santorum endorsed Specter as a pro-forma, [one-way] "party unity" move, which put him over the top. There's no doubt in my mind; I live in PA and I follow the politics here very closely. I was sick that we came so close and lost. I just hope the President pulls out all the stops to keep Santorum in.
