Are the Chinese stores going to be completely stocked with US goods? ;-)
You beat me to it heh. See this is how we're going to fix the trade deficit! Wal-Marts all over the world!

I'm a WalMart shopper and the vast majority of what I buy at Wally is American made. So who's eyes are lying? Since you had to change the terms of the percentage from "goods" to "community goods" and then to "durable goods" it would appear that it's YOUR eyes that have the problem. WalMart DOES sell made in the USA.

Except there it'll be called, "War Malt".
To: jpsb
I posted a link to walmarts Chicom operations yesterday which clearly stated that over 70 percent of the community goods (textiles, household appliances, etc) that walmarts sells are manufactured in China.Who's arguing what percentage of "community" goods?
How much did WalMart spend to purchase goods last year? How much did they spend on Chinese goods? What percentage of the total was the Chinese goods?
Not difficult, for most.

BUUUZZZZZZZ
Out right LIE.
WalMart forces their suppliers to lower their wholesale prices to what WalMart is willing to pay, how they do that is their business and WalMart doesn't care so long as their price threshold is met.

I suspect that the figure relates only to those products WalMart has specifically made for them by a Chinese manufacturer. It probably doesn't include goods purchased from other vendors (wholesalers) who sell Chinese made goods. For example, WM will sell a DVD player bought from an electronics distributor who has his goods made in China, hence the delta.

I dunno, Trojan super store, if you ask me. China's Communist Party isn't ready to compete against unfettered capitalism.

Well I guess what readers of this thread are going to have to decide is weahter to believe thier lying eyes (on thier next trip to Chinamart) or to believe you. I will believe my lying eyes and the Chicoms when they say over 70% of the durable goods that walmart sells are made in China.

No it's not, that's the reality of the situation. Over 80% of the goods sold at WalMart are American made, there are certain areas (like small appliances) where the Chinese have taken over the entire industry and the vast majority of what EVERYBODY sells are Chinese, but that's only certain market areas and they affect ALL retailers in those areas which include WalMart and every other department store chain in the world.

I wish Wal-Mart would get into the defense industry. A six pack of F-22 raptors would be $50 million. Buy five m-16's and get two free.

And what about the non-durable goods? How about the software? CDs? Movies? Pet supplies? You're artificially limiting your sample set for the purpose of skewing data.

Now, can you tell me what total Chinese sales are? Or can't you divide $15 billion by $198.747 billion?

I am with you on this, discostu. I have heard the lame argument that you can't buy American made at Walmart. So, my son and I went thru everything in our house that we regularly bought at Walmart. I know in my bathroom alone, out of all of the products in there, I only found 1 or 2 products that were not made in the US.
To: Toddsterpatriot
here is a good link. Walmart is using all kinds of US
Suppliers per your link yesterday. Read a little more. Huffy - a US "supplier" imports 98% of their bicycles from China. A supplier is NOT the same thing as a manufacturer.
I believe we can buy Levi's in walmart now. Levi closed it's last US plants and shipped them overseas too. Your assertion that only 7% of Walmarts good are Chinese is just absurd.
Go randomly pick out 100 items off the shelf and see where it was made. I've got $100 that says more than 7 items will be made in China.
