OIL CROOK RICH ON U.N. DEAL: WHO, ME? (Clinton pardonee denies Oil for Food scandal deals)
NY POST ^ | 3/3/05 | NILES LATHEM Post Correspondent

Posted on 03/03/2005 1:19:08 AM PST by Liz

Billionaire Marc Rich has stiff-armed investigators of the U.N. oil-for-food scandal, declaring he had a limited role in the program and knew nothing about Saddam Hussein's bribery schemes, The Post has learned.

Rich, who lives in Switzerland and is suspected of being a central figure in the scandal, personally replied to written questions submitted to him by the House International Relations Committee through the Swiss Embassy..........

A copy of his first official response to the scandal to a congressional committee was provided to The Post by investigators who expressed skepticism about his answers.

"Mr. Rich's answers were non-responsive, which is no surprise because we believe he knows more than he wishes to acknowledge," a spokesman for committee chairman Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) said.

Rich, who's been convicted of dodging taxes and breaking sanctions by dealing in oil with Iran, was pardoned by President Bill Clinton in January 2001.

...........Rich — who refused to speak to investigators face to face — said his only involvement with the oil-for-food program was in 1992, when the Swiss government sent his name to the United Nations for consideration as an approved trader.

"I remember that some of our companies applied to participate in this U.N.-led program and that we had been approved by the Swiss authorities but — as far as I can recall — nothing came of it," Rich wrote.

Amazing that an individual like Mark Rich who can juggle the books to the tune of billions, and who maintains thousands of "trading" companies where God knows what crooked deals he hides, cannot remember a deal where he musta made zillions. Guy's un-fricking-believable.

Ok I'll bite. What other scandals has Rich been in? I've pretty much skirted the Rich pardon because it was a bit confusing compared with other pardons. After all, we have the luxury of cherry-picking Clinton scandals if we want to, there is such a wide selection.

Nah, you're too easily amazed, Liz:

It comes down to this, Mr. Rich: You remember the menu from the Lincoln Bedroom in the Clinton White House?

You get Orange Juice, Coffee, Frosted Crusty Roll-overs and a choice of Amnesia or Arkancide....

/not necessarily sarcasm OFF

Thanks Liz ...Oil for Food is always interesting.

Has anyone seen an interactive Criminal Matrix of the Clinton Clan/DNC/UN/EU/ChiCom/Arafat/MSM/ENRONs/++ and their satellite ops?
We may need a scorecard, the Oil for Food scam may be a give that keeps on giving. With the opportunities in the $$Billions, OFF certainly seemed to have attracted the best and the brightness of the blood-suckers! he,he

"I remember that some of our companies applied to participate in this U.N.-led program and that we had been approved by the Swiss authorities but — as far as I can recall — nothing came of it," Rich wrote.

Switzerland 1. Media 2 million 2. Delta Service 2 million 3. Iblom 1 million 4. Sipol 1 million 5. Glencore 12 million 6. Lakia 2 million 7. Elkon [or Elcon] 23 million 8. Taurus 8 million 9. Petrogas 5 million 10. Finar [Holdings] 21 million 11. Napex Company 3 million

Ole Marc must be getting senile if he can't recall a 12 million barrel oil deal.
