The spot: It's a world of whitewhite floors, white walls, white furnishings and a stunning, middle-aged babe dressed all in white. She's smiling at us. "It's all about the O," she purrs. Whoa! That's hot! After six or seven costume changes, she explains what the O really stands for: Overstock.com, a Web site that sells liquidated merchandise.
Admit it: You can't take your eyes off this commercial. I know that you can't, because I've read your blogs. The Web is overflowing with your rants: This ad is so annoying! This woman is so freaking hot! I can't stand this woman! What is going on with this ad? I am deeply confused! Please help me!
Relax, people. Ad Report Card is here to explain this commercial's oddly powerful hold on us. Let me tell you what it's really all about:

It is called advertising with schemes that work.
But I must admit, the woman is attractive.
Simply stated:
Sex sells.
She's OK, not what I would call "hot" by any means.
Of course that part of the commercial is not "all about the gold". LOL!
Gee, I hadn't noticed. Let me take another gander.
Anyone has to ask??
Let me point out the obvious:
1.the "O"
2.camera panning crotch shot in tennis outfit
3.obligatory "suck" shot with straw
4.and the classic sexy librarian with glasses
DUH!
Wow. She's the complete package.
I can't believe she's over 40
All that's missing is the train going into a tunnel.
Well I know someone who doesn't think so but then again he's a bit strange anyway.
LOL!
and the fireworks
of a rocket launching . . . or a submarine breaching the surface . . .
About the only things I've caught on TV lately:
24, which is on the PVR or the VCR, so I skip commercials.
Battlestar Galactica, ditto on the PVR
"Whose Line is It Anyway?" on ABC Family from 10-11pm, because I'm falling asleep and it's silly. But usually, I pause it for a while, so I fast-forward through commercials to catch up.
If I get to watch TV at any other point, I'm flipping to a station that doesn't have a commercial on at the moment.
OTOH, my kids have probably seen it. THey seem to own the sets.

...or someone letting go of a bunch of helium balloons...
Yea, but is there any stock at Overstock. My searches there rarely result in what I am looking for.
Or a fire hose out of control.
I despise the commercials, by the way. They are aired WAY too often.
