Why has John Kerry sponsored a Senate resolution honoring a Stalinist who championed racial separatism?
The Soviet Union awarded W.E.B. Du Bois the Lenin Peace Prize. Maoist China staged a national holiday in his honor in 1959. Now, for reasons unexplained, the Democratic Party's 2004 presidential nominee seeks to honor Du Bois too.
Kerry's efforts to honor Du Bois have been joined by fellow Bay State Democrat Ed Markey, who, along with more than three-dozen colleagues, has advanced a similar resolution in the House of Representatives. Both resolutions await floor votes. In addition to praising Du Bois as a "defender of freedom," Markey's February 17 proclamation bizarrely maintains that Du Bois--a longtime Socialist who officially joined the Communist Party late in life--played "an intricate role in the development of the entrepreneurial spirit" and "capitalism" among African-Americans.

Surprize, surprize, surprize ...
I was at Dewey Canyon III. I heard kerry with my own ears as he spoke to a limited number of vets. He is a through and through, throughout, thoroughly a communist.

The answer is: The Democrats will be able to condemn as racist any Republican who speaks out against honoring De Bois. Then the obedient MSM will follow suit. Then Jesse and the boys will jump on the racist Republicans. Ergo: 90% of African American voters continue to vote Democrat.

There are so many more outstanding black men to honor then WEB DuBois. While he was a interesting and thought provoking figure that doesn't qualify him for special recognition. It would be interesting to see a senator from Alabama trying to get someone like George Wallace special honors. It would be the same thing, someone outside of the mainstream of American thought, who was the center of controversy. DuBois was a racist radical pure and simple, just like Wallace but in reverse. I think that he is a perfect example of the way that socialism and communism influenced the creation of modern American liberalism. His connection to Harvard is of note also, since there have been several posts lately about that school.

What I have concluded is that the radical Dems, the Kennedys, Kerrys, Pelosi, are still living in the Viet Nam era when they were last paid attention to.
They dont realize the world is a different place than it was in the 60's.
America has taken her rightful place as the true leader of the free world and they dont like it.

Nah, wish I did. Somewhere I've got a freepress frontpage of the degradations to DC on the following mayday. Because of kerry, dewey cyn III historically surpasses that disgusting event. Reminder: The hippie scum (commies) wanted to shutdown DC and the Pentagon by shutting down the bridges and major intersections. Military participated in riot putdown and a whole lotta pukes got arrested and DC stayed open. (I stayed the hell outta town that day!)

DuBois is being honored right now as a great civil rights leader in your school and whenever there is a television biography. That he was a socialist is mentioned only as a benign and totally excusable incidental.

I stop and think that this idiot almost made President of the United States, and is thinking he's so important and well liked to run in 2008 again...don't the people of Mass. care about who they send to the Senate to represent them? You look at the drunken Kennedy slime, and this idiot, it's embarassing not only to the dodo's in Mass. but to the rest of us in the United State...get them both out of here and let us save some face please!

This idiot Kerry, could have been our President - what a horrible thought!
Your comment is a little ironic, considering that just a few weeks ago, the man who defeated Kerry for the presidency had this to say:
"Throughout our Nation's history, the contributions of African Americans have stirred our Nation's conscience and helped shape our character. During National African American History Month, we honor the determination and commitment of generations of African Americans in pursuing the promises of America.
The theme of National African American History Month this year, "The Niagara Movement: Black Protest Reborn, 1905-2005," honors the grassroots movement of 1905 to 1910 that was organized to fight racial discrimination in America. Led by W.E.B. DuBois, the movement called for voting rights for African Americans, opposed school segregation, and worked to elect officials committed to fighting racial prejudice. Americans today carry on this movement as our Nation strives to live up to our founding principle that all of God's children are created equal.
It is important to teach our children about the heroes of the civil rights movement who, with courage and dignity, forced America to confront the central defect of our founding. Every American should know about the men and women whose determination and persistent eloquence forced people of all races to examine their hearts and revise our Nation's Constitution and laws."
