Parents: in many cases, you are flushing money down the toilet by paying for your sons and daughters to go to college. Across the nation, many colleges are nothing more than a cesspool of leftist indoctrination. Do you know what is going on in your kid's school?

Comments: The first couple of weeks were exciting. Dr. Murad talked about cases he had worked on (he's a forensic anthropologist). Then he started talking about his own personal views..."people who believe in God are stupid...how can they think we didn't evolve?" He frequently talked about how stupid people were if they believed in God. He also talked about how stupid the war was, and how could we just go over there to Iraq and bomb innocent people? Anyone who agreed with the war was also stupid. Some other favorite off topics were his family and how hard it was growing up, his father was muslim and his mother was catholic; he talked a lot about those kinds of conflicts, suicide and his views on it. He almost never talked about forensic science. The scheduled topics almost always took a back seat...there would be about 10 minutes left of class and he'd finally start talking about what he was supposed to be talking about. I quit going to class the last two weeks of the semester. I was glad I wasn't going anymore! I attended everyday, faithfully, until I just couldn't put up with it anymore. I talked to some of my friends who were in the same class, and he still continued with his off-topic rants. I must not have missed much because I still did well in the class! The funny thing is no one ever spoke up about wanting his lectures to be on-topic. It was like they liked being off-topic...I was too scared to say something...I figured he would take it out on me with my grades in the class...now looking back, I wish I would have said something. At the end of the semester I did leave an anonymous letter saying I learned absolutely nothing from his class and that I was offended nearly everyday I DID attend his class! I feel there should be some written law that professors should keep their own opinions to themselves and actually teach us things that will be useful to us later on. I didn't pay almost $5,000 dollars just to be told that I'm stupid because I believe in God. I felt like I was being beaten up verbally every time I walked into class. "TEACHERS ARE ENTITLED TO FREEDOM IN THE CLASSROOM IN DISCUSSING THEIR SUBJECTS, BUT THEY SHOULD BE CAREFUL NOT TO INTRODUCE INTO THEIR TEACHING CONTROVERSIAL MATTER THAT HAS NO RELATION TO THE SUBJECT." * I feel talking about a god or no god has absolutely nothing to do with forensic science. Forensic science is about crime scenes, and the science that is used for evidence. I don't feel the war in Iraq had anything to do with forensic science, either. That's why the college had forums...so people could go and discuss their feelings about the war. It shouldn't have been done in the classroom. |
Discussion Bias: Excessive |
Comments: The professor led the discussions...it's the same as the lectures...he hardly ever talked about forensic science...almost the entire hour lecture was based on his private opinions and thoughts about life, and if we disagreed with him, he would let us know how stupid he thought we were. I remember one day in class, a woman was disagreeing with his view on people who believe in God. He ridiculed her, saying something like "Come on! Give me a break! How can anyone actually believe there's a god out there! Give me a break!" I never saw that woman in the class again. He never got hostile, but he did like to ridicule people. I never thought college was going to be the way it turned out for me. Everything that I had been taught while growing up was completely thrown in my face, like it was something to be ashamed of. It's sad, too, because there are freshmen that come to college and think that because their professor has a doctorate, and is smart, they should believe everything that they say. That's not the case, and it never should be. "...THEY [THE FACULTY] PROMOTE AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO THE OPEN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS,..." * Yeah right! If someone would have come right out and said they were a Christian and did believe in God, he would have laughed in their face and embarassed the person to death...that's why none of us ever stood up for what we believed in. |
Comments: The book was strictly based on forensic science and was rarely discussed in class. |
General Comments: "THEY [THE FACULTY] HOLD BEFORE STUDENTS THE BEST SCHOLARLY STANDARDS, BOTH GENERALLY AND WITHIN THEIR DISCIPLINES, ENCOURAGING STUDENTS TO EMBRACE THOSE STANDARDS AND GUIDING THEIR EFFORTS TO MEET THEM." * This absolutely did not occur...forensic science is somethig I love...I was so excited when I took up the class, but after the semester I decided it was just a waste of money. I did not learn one new thing that I didn't already know...I was so disappointed because he had worked on so many criminal cases and he had so much knowledge and experience... I think if he would have just stayed on track and talked about his experiences, the whole class would have been a meaningful experience.

Your parents should think about buying a motorhome with the money and enjoying traveling the country.

Bump. Its good for professors, who have themselves been over indoctrinated, to get some pressure from the outside.
