A Klansman turned Senator accuses President Bush of using Hitlerian tactic. Not a head turns.
Republicans have comfortable control over the US Senate, yet they gently tip-toe like syncophants to the minority.
The Republican Senate Majority Leader backs down from fights regarding a cornerstone of President Bush's 2nd term policy goals and a fight for judges that could turn the course of history and mold the future of America for the foreseeable future and beyond.
There is a severe lack of leadership and unity in the U.S. Senate and the time has come to call the majority leader for what he is, weak and ineffectual. The time has come for a vote of no confidence and put a powerful leader in his stead. This is not the time to shirk from our duty to the future.

Also, Mitch M'Connell is majority whip. he is not all that good at using his position as a soapbox and becoming a attack dog.
Maybe we need a new whip.

It's quite obvious what the motivation behind projecting a sense weakness by the Republican Senators in direct contradiction to the sense of purpose felt by the rank and file. They don't fear the loss of political power, the fear losing the trappings of power.
Regardless of whether they are in the majority or minority, they are still Senators. They fear becoming one of us again. They project weakness of the worse kind, cowardice. They no longer have ideals to hold sacred.
If Senator Frist fears the releasing the "nuclear option" to recapture the focus of the Senate and what was elected to do, he should quake in his boots at the thought of the unleashing of political Armageddon by conservatives.
If it costs the Senate, so be it. The path is narrow but well marked. If some of the more "timid" moderate Senators from the Northeast shirk, put them in with the Democrats.
And if not Santorum, make it Martinez.

I think it should be someone from the South, who is also capable of rallying the republican "moderates" ie.RINO's to conservative causes. Two names come to mind: Shelby of Alabama and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. Do you have anyone better? Don't forget the RINO's have less power, because of the conservative guys who were elected in November.

Yo....
Ahhhh, yes. By the way, you're number two on a google search using "joycelyn elders safer guns". Congrats.
This is a sensitive subject and I am not gonna mention it because she [Joycelyn Elders] got canned for it, but I'll tell ya, she said much worse than this. And she said far stupider things, like The way to combat crime is with safer bullets, with safer guns.

It's a good feeling, you know, to shoot a bad guy. Something you Democrats would never understand.

Newt didn't help himself by straying from his marriage.

Let's keep bangin' toes and keep holding their feet to the fire. We are making headway. Isn't it something when FReepers and others of like mind can get things going. Who said you can't turn an ocean liner on a dime?

Agreed, although if you think about it, the double standard can work in our favor as well...if we don't promote those who compromise it, or don't overlook questionable behavior because the person has political capital or power.

Frist will be sad at this news.
