NORWALK, Conn. -- An employee of the town clerk's office has filed suit saying she has severe allergies to perfumes and other chemicals and city officials have done little to limit her exposure.
Linda Gorman, who joined the staff in October 1995, began having problems in March 2002, when Town Clerk Andrew Garfunkel hired a temporary staffer whose perfume made Gorman ill.
Garfunkel circulated a memo asking workers not to wear perfumes or colognes. He later amended the policy to state that scented materials, such as body lotions and detergents, could be used in moderation as long as they could not be detected within 5 feet of Gorman.
The suit alleges that Garfunkel refused to send a memo in November 2003, reminding employees of Gorman's sensitivity to fragrances.
City attorney Jeffry Spahr said Monday that Gorman's complaint is somewhat puzzling.
"Her claim is she has an allergic condition to scents, but she took a job working with the general public. That seems to be part and parcel of what her job is," Spahr said.
That story stinks.
Some people are just in the wrong line of work.
Fire her; get someone else.
I guess her nose didn't work from '95-"02?
if she can't function in the position, find someone who does
We saw it coming, ping!
Go live in a bubble girl cause sometimes this world can really stink!!!!

For heaven's sake. How ridiculous is this! She's an idiot. Poor baby! Her gene pool must have been pretty thin when SHE was born! Goodness! She needs to get a life.
Sort of like those people that work in smoking permitted environments and all of a sudden they decide they don't like it.
Nobody is forcing her to keep the job, are they?
Or those people that want the use of government guns to legislate smoking bans so their clothes don't stink when they get home.
The way some people apply perfume is sickening. I don't have a problem with a little perfme, but when people marinate in it, it gives me a headache instantly.
I would rather smell diesel perfume than the nasty crap some women wear en masse.
So, according to our friends on the Left, the standard is:
BAD: Perfume, cologne, scented detergent, cigarettes, cigars, pipe smoke, peanuts, religious images, printed prayers, anything religious, no off color jokes, no photographs of any women in anything other than a Nun's habit (oops - strike that on a religious basis), conservative talk radio, to-be-continued...
GOOD: NPR radio, liberal media of all types, feminist images and literature, anti-male jokes and humor, rank body odor, new-age talismans or other pagan iconography, to-be-continued...
True - but I was trying to stick with employees, as that is the topic of the article - and you know how the antis get about changing the subject.
When in the name of God is this stuff going to stop!
I'm allergic to people who are always whining about their allergies----WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEEEE ???????
No! But she just wants to feel important, collect money and make the world rotate on her arze!
She just wants to have her five minutes of fame with her face in the news.
She needs to get a real like! Let her work in a slaughterhouse for a week. See how she likes the smells THEN! heh!
Between you and me, I sure am thankful we grew up in the times that we did. At least our gene pool was healthy then when WE were born.
Too many whiny wimps among us today Mears. Sickening, aren't they?
I once went to the "Information Desk" at a large store, only to find that the person staffing the desk was completely deaf, and not very good at reading lips.
