FReeper Canteen: What's Your Board/Computer/Video/Card game? |
Here's the topic for today:
What is your favorite Board, Computer, Video, or Card game?Board Game --> Monopoly, Sorry, Candy Land, Checkers, Chess..etc Computer --> Monopoly, Diablo, Sims..etc Video --> Any game for a game console. (Game consoles would be something like Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, Sega, Xbox, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and so on.) Card Game --> Poker, Rummy, Go Fish, 52 Card Pick Up (Hehe!), and so on... We had to explain this for Ma. If you knew what we were talking about, just skip this part. Thank you!
Have at it folks!
Help bring some holiday cheer to our Troops!!
Diva Betsy Ross will return next week all by herself. Due to something tomkow probably did, DBR is taking a break. A special investigation has been opened. We'll let you know what our finding turns up. (It better not be a smelly Burka!)
Here's a heads up!!
WRITER33 has a new book coming out tomorrow: "In Defense Of Liberty". Check it out!! Help support our Veterans and FReepers!! |

It wasn't snide, nor condescending. I took issue with the idea that DoD is realistic, that's all--I doubt the Germans ever accused the Americans of being "*censored* campers."
DoD was fun, and to date it remains my favorite WW2-based game, but realistic it ain't.

It sounds challenging. Is Jack Ryan a character? Thank you for sharing. I'm intriqued.

Where did I call anyone an idiot? I like Day of Defeat. It's extremely fun, especially the dod_forest map (the servers don't put it in rotation often enough, IMO.) It's just not realistic, and that's all I said.

And Day of Defeat is definitely fun. I can navigate its Caen map while blindfolded. All I said was that it isn't realistic--period.
Brothers in Arms is better in that respect, especially with the squad tactics system and its use of Allied recon photos to recreate the Normandy coast.

My Dad was a Chemical Engineer and a whiz at math. He helped me all through highschool but I was on my own later on, LOL.
As a 'stay at home' Mom, it never really mattered.

Just in case anyone is into flight sims you might want to check out Strike Fighters: Project 1 and the related Wings Over Vietnam. Strike Fighters started out with many bugs and was released incomplete, but successive patches and many fantastic user-made addons make this game an absolute gem.

The Jack Ryan character isn't part of it. The agent is Sam Fisher who is more of a John Clark type. (IMO and maybe I'm wrong, but Tom Clancy consulted on the game so they could put his name to it for $$$) It's a great game.

Hundreds of hours I must of spent playing Microprose Pirates and F-15 Strike Eagle on the good old Commodore 64 =D
To: MoJo2001
Board: Avalon Hill's B-17 - Queen of the Skies
Card: Euchre (is there any other card game?)
Computer: It varies. I'm currently involved in a campaign in Talonsoft's Bombing the Reich. Prior to that I was playing a lot of Privateer's Bounty: Age of Sail II. Looking forward to the updated version of Rowan's Battle of Britain flight sim, and to Ubisoft's Silent Hunter III U-boat sim.
