Poll: Langevin holds edge over Chafee for Senate

PROVIDENCE -- In the latest Brown University poll, Rhode Islanders overwhelmingly (58 percent) say they expect the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl again next year, but that Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee may not be as lucky if he faces off against Rep. Jim Langevin.

although Langevin is a democrat, he is a pro-life democrat (pro-abortion advocates were picketing against him on the local news), and Chafee is a RINO regardless..

But he might have trouble winning the Rat primary. Senate seats are much higher stakes than House seats. I think I read where Dennis Hopper's wife is trying to round up money to oppose Langevin.

a pro-life Rat will probably still filubuster Bush's Supreme picks, especially if he's from RI, so I'm not sure it's that clean cut of a choice. Chaffee, as terrible as he is, wouldn't filubuster Bush.

If it looked like Chafee would lose, I'd see him cutting a Jeffords deal by switching parties. The Dimwits would cut off Langevin's bid in a heartbeat for a sure pick-up by a Chafee switch.

I support Republicans and Pro-Life. I'll easily accept a RINO when the rat is anti-life but I would have a hard time with the choice between Chaffee and Langevin. Fortunately I don't live in RI. I expect the rats will kill Langevin in the primary.

Anybody know if RI is open primary or do you have to be a registered party?

The latest is that Hollywood money is going to Brown to beat Langevin in the primary. Hollywood wants a strong pro-choice candidate and Langevin has pro-life leanings. Polls show Chaffee would beat Brown, but lose to Langevin. Given Chafee's record on abortion, it's a topsy-turvy world where it's not clear whose a liberal and whose a conservative.
