Terri Schiavo's parents ask judge to let her divorce husband

Associated Press

TAMPA, Fla. - Terri Schiavo's parents asked a Pinellas court judge Monday to allow her to divorce her husband - in either life or death - in a court filing accusing Michael Schiavo of adultery and not acting in his wife's best interests.

The filing was one of a flurry of 15 motions filed by Bob and Mary Schindler as they now have less than three weeks to find a legal way to keep their severely brain-damaged daughter alive.

Terri Schiavo is scheduled to have the feeding tube that has kept her alive for 15 years removed March 18 unless her parents can convince an appeals court to block Michael Schiavo again. Michael Schiavo says he will have the tube pulled because his wife once told him she would never want to be kept alive artificially.

David Gibbs, the Schindler's attorney, said Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer has indicated he will not hear the divorce request and five other motions filed Monday - but that only means that the matters are now on their way to being appealed to the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland........

Oh, they testified that she would want a divorce if Michael was adulterous? You know better than that.

No, it was regardless of adultery.

What source documents? Where have you been all this time??? Know what? It says that you signed up in 1999. I haven't seen you around until now.

If you actually care about this, may I suggest that you search the daily Terri threads for links to documents. They're all there.

Have fun.

I do. And I know that I would never be rational in a situation where my daughter's life was in jeopardy. And that I would lie, cheat, steal, or kill to save her life. And that that doesn't make it right.

But George W. Greer does not know that he could be imitating Haman? And of course March 25 is seven days after the hydration halts if Greer has his way!

And what was the anticipated lifespan used to calculate the life care amount?

Would you agree that a $1.2 million award wouldn't be a calculation based on a life span of approximately 2 more months?

Perhaps, if the amt. of time Terri's husband has been with another woman qualifies it as a common law marriage, then Terri could divorce him on the grounds he is a bigot. Two wives? I doubt the state of Florida allows bigotry.

I don't know about laws against bigotry but most states do have laws against bigamy and if Michael can legally be considered a bigamist, that would be a small part of his just desserts.

Hmmm... I thought she'd lived quite a bit more than two months since then.

Would you answer the question first? Would you agree that a $1.2 million award would NOT be a life span for approximately 2 more months?

Her friend said it. I read it. If I come across it again, I will let you know.

I know her friend said it, but what matters is not whether Terri would have wanted a divorce under the circumstances that existed in 1990, but whether she would want one under the circumstances that exist in 2005.

If Terri had an honest guardian, none of this would be an issue since Florida law explicitly allows a guardian to file for divorce on behalf of an incapacitated ward. And it Terri had an honest judge, she wouldn't have her current dishonest guardian.

From the article:
Bobby Schindler says his sister began talking about leaving Schiavo in 1989. "She said she wished she had the strength or the energy or the know-how to get a divorce," he says.

So, you're probably willing to call him a liar with less proof than those who call Michael Schiavo a liar for saying Terri would want to die. Bravo to you.

If I understood what your question was, sure - two more months from when? $1.2 could be an award for care for that period, but it is doubtful. I assume your point will be that "he stopped caring for her" after two months. I also assume that someone has been paying the bills since then.
