Just watching CNN. They Pro-Syrian government has just resigned. Huge celebrations in Beirut.
Mod note: On CNN's banner:
Lebanons pro-Syrian prime minister, Omar Karami, announces his resignation and that of his government. Details soon.
Nita, your map overlaying Lebanon on the Washington DC region was very helpful. Do you have a similar map that you could post overlaying Israel on the Washington DC region?
Of course. I even gave you an example, which you gave a smarmy reply to.
Where have you been for the last 2.5 decades?
"It's strange for me to say it, but this process of change has started because of the U.S. invasion of Iraq," explains Jumblatt. "I was cynical about Iraq. But when I saw the Iraqi people voting three weeks ago, eight million of them, it was the start of a new Arab world." Jumblatt says this spark of democratic revolt is spreading. "The Syrian people, the Egyptian people, all say that something is changing. The Berlin Wall has fallen. We can see it."
Cheers.
Worth repeating! :)
Death to the evil ophtalmologist!
I have no doubts that part of what President Bush was in Europe to do was to tell the Europeans that Syria was next and that "yer either with us, or a'gin us; make yer choice". After that, it didn't take long for the word to get to the Syrians and for them to find out they were alone.
I shudder to think what would have happened if Kerry had been elected, for we know he would have postponed the Iraq election indefinitely.
Joseph Farrah predicted a Kerry victory.
Although I have to admit, the meltdown at DU is spectacular. It's like watching a grasshopper trying to climb out of spider web.
Love it.
Yes, you are correct about that.
Cedars of Lebanon
You're in Lebanon? Wow.
I have tears in my eye watching the demonstrations from here. I can't begin to imagine what this must be like for you. God Bless you and your people! We're behind you!
That speech continues to move me. Today is such a wonderful day!
Thank God! Thank our Soldiers! Thank our allies! Thank free people that have stood solidly behind this foreign policy! Thank the brave people defying their oppressors. And thank George W. Bush!
It's my continued prayer this revolution spread like a fire through and beyond the Middle East.
This is Liberty's Century!
Quite right:
My guess is that what Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield really told the pro-Syrian Lebanese was "remember those boots Condi wore in Germany - unless you want one of 'em stuck up your arse, resign immediately."
Worked with a Lebanese Christian - Greek Orthodox is a large Christian group in Lebanon.
Good Luck to you and your fellow citizens who ache to be free of Syria.
Stay safe and keep us posted about what is really happening there.
Freedom is the anti viral that GW has injected into the good people of the Middle East via Afghanistan and Iraq.
Freedom is the known anti viral to destroy the Islamofascist virus that has infected the Middle East for decades.
You best remember that when you are up to your a** in alligators.
