And? He can "accept" all he wants to; the people are going to decide this. And I doubt they will adhere to a Syrian backed constitution that has held them down all these years.

Thank!

Freedom and democracy are the anti virals to the deadly virus, Islamofascism.

Good day, anonymoussierra. Thanks for posting the article. In the 1980's, freedom swept through Eastern Europe, sparked by the Solidarity movement in your beloved Poland. Now it is happening again in the Middle East, sparked by the events of 9/11/01 and our brave GWB's response. Never in his wildest dreams did Osama bin Laden think it would turn out this way.

This is put up or shut up time in the Middle East. I don't see the Syrians just walking away from Lebanon. I love this quote:

"Out of concern that the government does not become an obstacle to the good of the country, I announce the resignation of the government I had the honor to lead," Karami told parliament in Beirut.

Ummm.... not buying it. I mean, I buy the resignation, I highly doubt the motive. Something bigger is going on in the background - either an ultimatum to Syria or an ulterior motive from Damascus. I'm betting it's the latter.

Actually, if you drain all of the contributing waters to the swamp, the swamp will dry up on its own. That is what is happening.

I hope you're right Grampa, but to me Saudi Arabia seems the trickiest nut of all to crack.

It looks like a freedom domino effect is happening in the "Islamic" world.

"added to the list" is irrelevant to the discussion. The fact that Bush initially said "These states and states like these that sponsor terror" by default, includes Syria. Syria has been on the "Terror Watch List", a list of countries deemed to be terrorist havens for decades, by the CIA.

I like that wild, natural look. He looks like a man.

I associate wild unkempt hair with .....wild animals....

I suspect they will attempt to have a military-run government instead. The confluence of events in Iran do not portend Syria folding their hand right now. They can't possibly believe we're about to launch a war in Damascus in the near future (i.e. anytime this year), so it seems it would have made sense to leave the government in place UNLESS all they are doing is clearing the decks for a military junta to step in...

You thinking maybe another civil war?

FJ, anonymoussierra is Polish. She posts from Poland, not the U.S. Her English skills may not be the best, but she is a kind and wonderful person who had a burning sense of gratitude to the U.S. for Ronald Reagan's help in freeing her people.

If not for the great changes that occurred in Iraq and the recent elections in Iraq, the grip of fear would still have been very strong in Lebanon and holding the people down.

President Bush Great Middle East project to spread freedom and democracy has a lot to do with what you see now in Lebanon.

When we drain the swamps around Saudi Arabia and Iran, and innoculate the good people in those former swamps with the anti virals freedom and democracy, the despots in Saudi Arabia and Iran will become history.

The Lebanese government today annoucnced that it resigned after seeing the picture of US Sec of State Condi Rice in high black boots, and the severe expression on her face; they realized that the US government wasn't messing around..

or rather, more specifically, 'what the majority of the dumbed-downed ones want' (to watch)

You missed my point.

Keep in mind that one third of all Nelson boxes in this country are located in and around New York City.

What other constitution do you favor? This constitution allows Christians a say - with the office of President. If you advocate majority rule then its "Islam uber alles" and eliminates Christians from power like they have been eliminated from Iraq. The demonstrators are mostly Sunni Muslims from the assasinated ex PM's Sunni Muslim party.

Think of a British-backed Northern Ireland government up-and-quitting over the political assassination of someone in Sinn Fein... I think it's great to see people in the streets, but until the muscle is gone, all bets are off on who fills the vaccuum.

Leftism is a statist totalitarian political philosophy at its core. True Leftists hate the outbreak of liberty for the individual, because it threatens their dreams of a world super-state governing all humanity.
