From a Jazeera article:

"In an interview with Aljazeera, Pierre Jumail, an opposition representative, said protesters would go to the parliament to question the government's security responsibility."

Looks like the govt. wanted to avoid a Georgian Parliament-like incident. That got big play in the Arab press, at least the English language side. Here it was a one or two day story.

The one on Fox just said "this is something that hasn't been seen in the Middle East in years!"

Ummm...in January, we saw the equivalent in Iraq, when millions lined up to vote. In fact, the Iraqi elections sparked the events in Lebanon. So whoever that reporter on FOX is who made the above claim is as clueless as Elmer Fudd.

Not as impressive as it sounds if you understand how parl. govt works.

There are 25,000 people demonstrating in the streets. Surely that's a little impressive?

"I saw it; what's your point?"

Radical ideas from a radical.

Replying to the poster is a waste of time and energy.

Don't confuse the poster with facts. Her mind is already made up.

"I just don't think euphoria is warranted and I don't think there should be delusions of a grand vision sweeping the ME."

Nonsense. You post anti-Bush drivel non-stop, even when it sounds ludicrous. What President Bush did in his State of the Union speech in saying that the U.S. would support those who rose up for their own freedom, and what he did by pulling the U.S. Ambassador to Syria, are things beyond your anti-Bush comprehension.

Freedom is on the march thanks to President Bush, and that fact pisses you off. You hate Bush so much that you'd wish for lifetimes of tyranny on entire peoples (e.g. Lebanon) if it would just make Bush look bad for a single day.

You are pathetic.

This democracy thingie is spreading like a cancer.

We can't call it that yet, but nearly anything would be an improvement in Lebanon.

I just hope we've been watching for a line of trucks heading out of the Bekaa Valley for the Syrian border.

I had to spit on my clean floor. I am forced to watch MSNBC, Linda Vester talking about BTK story. Never mind, talking about Wacko-Jacko.

The Dims know the presidency of GWB is monumental in its historic impact.

I agree; that's why we're seeing so many personal attacks on Bush, like Joe Conason's yesterday.

The President who is pro Syrian remains - all it means is that anew govt will form. This is not as some posters declared - the fall of the Berlin wall.

Exactly right. What makes President Bush an evil in the world in their eyes is that he has the nerve to stand for something good and right without being one of them.

The more he succeeds the more they will hate, only in private. Like their lingering hatred of President Reagan.
