McCullough and his wife moved into the home in 1994 with the help of Oakland's first-time homebuyers' program, which requires them to keep the house for 20 years.Hope he gets time off for good behavior....

If you knew Oakland, like I know Oakland -- especially that location, I sure am not siding with the mother of the "victim". I'm with the homeowner.

This guy is a hero. Plain and simple. There's no way the D.A., in a just society, would file charges. Unfortunately, this happened in the Glorious Socialist Workers Paradise of Kalifornia, so any assumption of justice is void.
Also, even if the D.A. does the right thing and gives this guy a medal, I can guarantee the bastard punk's mommy is going to sue in civil court and ruin him financially. She, on the other hand, will find some liberal fascist gun grabbing whacko group to pay her lawyer fees.

Where's the parents of these kids? They should be charged as accessories to the crimes their kids are committing, with apparent regularity.

A common complaint among police officers in my city is that catching the crooks makes no difference because the left-wing judges make it impossible for the prosecution to put these crooks away. For example, the judges forbid the prosecution from showing the defendent's past criminal history to the jury.

I had a friend living in the Spring Valley area of San Diego a few years back. He had drug dealers across the street. After reporting them on numerous occasions, the drug dealer rallied his customers. I traveled to a spot about 4 blocks from his house and casually walked into the crowd. There were almost 400 people in the street. They were pelting his vintage 1938 Plymouth with rocks. It was a total loss. What infuriated me was hearing the two San Diego Sheriff's deputies instructing the crowd about the limits of their ability to terrorize my friend. The duputies were scared shitless. I watched his house from outside and communicated with him via 2m ham radio to make sure he didn't walk into unfriendlies at a door. The crowd was gone by midnight.

The shot young man, and his mother, and all others of their ilk can take a long walk off a short pier.

I heard Mr. McCullough interviewed by Barbara Simpson on KSFO am radio in San Francisco last evening. Good interview, sad situation. Makes me sick how the perps are now the victims, and actual victims are punished if they have the temerity to fight back and protect their homes and families.

The concealed weapon charge won't fly. You can carry any way you please on your own property. Assault's another matter; but, a small mob of gang members on the lawn would easily pass California's "reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury" test. He had already been attacked at that point. He also showed forbearance by not shooting the little puke right off the bat. This is evidence that he did not panic and did not act recklessly. He clearly waited until a threat of "death or great bodily injury" had materialized before resorting to deadly force.

I'm in the process of compiling a ping-list for firearms-related self-defense stories. If you want to be on it, Freepmail me and let me know.
