Did Alanis Morissette lie under oath?
The Canadian singer recently took the citizenship oath to become a naturalized American -- sort of.
She had to pledge the following to become one of us.
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic ... so help me God."
But after mouthing the words, Morissette assured her homeland that her "dual citizenship" means she "never" would renounce her Canadian citizenship. She calls herself a "Canadian-American."
That northerly gale-force wind was Canada breathing a deep sigh of relief.
What part of "absolutely and entirely renounce" does she not understand?

What she wants, as do far too many others, are the benefits of being American without having to bother with holding up their end of the bargain.
She still thinks she IS God after playing the Supreme Being in the movie "Dogma".
After all the whining from the MSM about how we are sure to lose our "best and brightest" to Canada if Bush was re-elected, we end up *gaining* this nitwit.
I don't see why we put up with this crap. IMO, if you have citizenship in another country you forfeit American citizenship. Also, if you "No habla Ingles" no citizenship or green card either.
She must have choked on the "Jagged Little Pill"!
I caught the last half hour of "Dogma" one night on the Sci-Fi Channel. It was simply awful; one of the worst pieces of trash I've ever seen. I would have stabbed my eyes out with and icepick had I not wanted to watch the program following it.
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic ..."

What is truly amazing, is that many of our citizens born here, [even some conservatives on this forum] object to this oath.
They claim that the Bill of Rights only applies to the federal government.
They claim that a State government, empowered by the will of the majority, can pass & enforce any prohibitive law on any sort of behavior or property.
To them, we live in a democracy, not a free republic.
At least try the mute button first! (g)
I'll take the Christopher Walken "Prophesy" series when it comes to angels running roughshod over humanity to regain heaven.
"Too late for him...he's taking a dirt nap."
Actually "silent bob" wrote and made the movie.
They weren't just in it, one of them, was responsible for it.
I'm amused by the premise where his character really is a hyper-strong and telekinetic superhero but usually remains oblivious to that fact because his brain is fogged by a bad habit.
As one who frequents European based websites on occasion (my dark side), I find it amazing how they know the ins & outs of America's benefit system (better than us). They are a major drain on Social Security, they put minimum time in to qualify then they're back to their mother countries, that's got to stop. If you leave the country, the "contract" is broken and your benefit package stopped!
Wish the DOJ would go after a few of these individuals who have falsely sworn and give them a little gray-bar time.
Another good argument for Bush's "personal accounts".
