ABC EXECS FORCE ROBIN WILLAMS TO CUT OSCAR SKIT
Drudge Report ^ | 02/26/2005 | Matt Drudge

A growing chill is in the air over Hollywood Saturday night after ABC executives forced Robin Williams to drop a comic song from the Oscars show!

Williams, the presenter of the Academy Award for best animated feature, decided last week that his one minute on stage would be a prime time to lampoon a conservative critic James C. Dobson, whose group Focus on the Family last month criticized the cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants for appearing in a video about tolerance that the group called "pro-homosexual."

Robin Williams has a very foul sort of 'humor'.

"A growing chill is in the air over Hollywood"

Some might call the 'Chill' a call for a return to real entertainment instead of incessant, pro-Liberal propaganda.

I think the story is just an attempt to increase viewership.

Mr. Williams paid a large court settlement to a young woman fan a couple of years. ago. In return for a sexual treat, Williams gave the woman a venereal disease.
Please go away, Robin and take your humor with you.

According to a Zogby Poll only 1 in 8 republicans will watch the Oscars tonight.

To be truthful within Republican standards...one should not worry about limiting or making comments about cartoon characters...if we do start to worry about cartoon character comments...then we've sliding in the wrong direction. Whatever Mr. Dobson said for public comments...he should have no regret about these comments being repeated or used in other context.

I've watched Sponge Bob...and will readily agree that its a cutting edge adult & kid cartoon and could be used to "hint" at gay humor. But we've had far worse cartoons with extreme violence and bad morals...and we never made a vast stand on them. And personally...I'd rather we not start a cartoons decency board...it'd just be used for stupid purposes.

Where I'm coming from, besides a lot of personal admiration for Dobson, is that there was less truth in this story than the constant harangues on Dan Quayle. Dobson DID NOT say SpongeBob was "gay." He DID NOT launch an attack on SpongeBob. That's just the angle the MSM finds easier to lampoon, and it's truth/untruth is irrelevant. (Even as they weren't interested in reporting that the card the TEACHERS gave Quayle had the spelling "p-o-t-a-t-o-e," because the MSM likes the teachers' union.)

Dobson attacked the agenda of the video, and mentioned almost in passing that beloved characters like SpongeBob were thrown in to sell the agenda.

That's my main source of animus here.

Dan

I hadn't heard this! Is it ... uhm ... the kind you can cure or the kind you just learn to live with?

In a related poll, Zogby found that 1 in 8 Republicans lie to pollsters.

Actually - all Dobson did was point out that the web-site of the group sending all those pro-tolerance videos to elementary schools was promoting or was linked to several pro-homosexual sites. Spongebob makes an apperance in the video, and Dobson said it was unfortunate that he and other cartoon characters were being used by a group w/ this kind of adgenda. He never said anything remotely like "Spongebob is gay". This is classic liberal crap - trying to unfairly demonize your opponent.

This was about ten or 15 years ago. I think Robin's gift was permanent.

He was hilarious in the late 70s and early 80s. Problem is, he hasn't had any new material since then.

What's the problem? The twelve people who will actually tune in to the show don't even vote...
