worried that it could tarnish the monarchy.

A little late to be worrying over that since there are so many scandals in that family. Anyway, let Charles and Camilla marry. It is NOT our business. Not big fans of any of the royals but...

No disrespect intended to any Brits, but...

What duty? Ribbon cuttings at shopping malls?

"When it came to the monarchy, we French set the only acceptable standard in 1782. Le Guillotine!
Particularly deserving is that retard Prince . . . ugh, I forgot his name. You know, the bastard child Diana had with the Army captain. The one with the Nazi costume. He shows that there is a thin fine line between Hitler and the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (the Windsors' true name)."

Irony of the Hour: Self-righteous Vichy French person spewing "Hitler" and other ad hominems.

Never mind the smoking... at what point will she realize that the Farrah Fawcett doo is about as chic as Ol' Crusty?

Yes, I did. Thank you. She was such a good mother. Those boys looked so happy when they were with her. I wish she could have lived to see them grown up.

I'm glad some people aren't on the "hate Diana" bandwagon. That girl was handed a raw deal, and railroaded into a marriage of convenience. Then she was mocked and ridiculed by the world. I was struck by the friendship that developed between her and Mother Theresa. Notice that when Diana died, Mother Theresa followed within a week.

Thanks to the rotten treatment she received, the monarchy may never recover the status they once enjoyed. A King William could change that. He has a good head on his shoulders. One of these days, we'll see a pic of him and Condi, shaking hands :)

Speaking of heirs, Prince Harry is looking more and more like his father as the years pass. I think he gets his coloring from Diana's brother, his uncle. Unfortunately, he is beginning to act like the chucklehead his father is. Oh yes, Chuck is indeed the father of Prince Harry.

Charles is sort of an alternative health nut. That's the funny thing. He's gone to homeopathic doctors

Camilla Parker-Bowles, a three-pack-a-day smoker who could eat apples through a picket fence.......

What a put down! She's part of the horsey set alright.

Dear Al Simmons,

"Is that more accurate?"

No, not at all.

The Latin Patriarchy didn't have a problem with the practice of the Eastern Patriarchies permitting married men to become parish priests, and permitting only celibate, non-married men to become bishops.

The Catholic Church, to this day, permits Eastern Rite Catholics to allow married men to become parish priests, following the Orthodox practice. Only in the Roman Rite is celibacy the general rule, and even then, exceptions can be made.

There were many issues that drove the schism between East and West. I've never read, in all my years, that the general rule of celibacy becoming standard in the Roman Patriarchy was a significant, or even a minor cause of the schism.

I didn't know that there were people who hated Diana. I thought the world loved her. Except, of course, for her ex-in-laws. Hopefully Prince Harry will calm down. I am sure William will get his little brother under control. Of course Harry is Prince Charles's son. Diana would not have done anything like that.

I know the British people love their royals. I don't understand it. So, for their sakes, I hope that William becomes king and brings the monarchy back to a respectable place.

You never hear much about Prince Edward. He married the woman he chose and they live the life they want. I guess he put everyone in their place when they dared to say anything about his wife's career.

Too bad Andrew did not stick up for his wife. He lost a good one.

Mocked and ridiculed? My word, she was LOVED by the world. I didn't see her being mocked at all.

Yes he did. Glad they remain friends. Seems none of those boys could stand up and go against the royal whatevers. That's why I admire "Edward...the Uncrowned King." He was a man in love and he chose his love over a crown.
