You want to quote scripture? Here's one for you:
Matthew 18:35 - So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Yes, the Keyes-bashing Christians should memorize that one. Maybe it'd do some good.
Well tell me where the two contradict one another. There's a natural division between what's good and what's evil. There can be no co-existence. Keyes daughter feels that her father still loves her but is just misguided. If that is the case then are you going to say that he doesn't?
I'm sure Keyes has a forgiving heart and will accept his daughter back into the fold once she REPENTS and sees the error of her ways just as the story of the prodigal son illustrates.
In the meantime you can't expect Keyes to allow his daughter to bring her perverse sick lifestyle into his household can you?
Good passage, but you left out the parallel passage in Luke 17:3-4;
3Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you,[a] rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you,[b] saying, "I repent,' you shall forgive him."
God does not forgive the unrepentant sinner, and neither are we required to forgive the unrepentent. We can love them and have a forgiving spirit that is eager to forgive, but forgiveness is a 2 way street. The offending party must first realize they have sinned against you and repent before genuine forgiveness can be extended. Unless you think you are more loving and more moral than God.
