Well everyone knows I like to do some crowing when the Republicans in Galveston County, Texas have something big cooking. So y'all read on and find out just how big. Then check the website and buy some tickets. They are steep but the proceeds go to helping us win again in 2006 like we won in 2004!
Thanks, Chris Stevens - Republican Chairman of Galveston County
Location: Galveston Island Convention Center Private Reception: 6:00 pm Dinner: 7:00 pm
Special Guests:
Congressman Henry Bonilla - Respected San Antonio area US Congressman, Henry Bonilla is an avid defender of private property rights and reduced government regulations on small businessmen. Come and meet this close confidant of President George W. Bush.
Congressman John Culberson - Just when the liberals thought it was safe to muddy the water John Culberson!, a plain talking, nuts and bolts conservative. Congressman Culberson has focused his legislative career on reducing the tax burden on homeowners and working families, limiting the power of federal and state government, enhancing local control, and improving our public schools.
Harris County Tax Assessor Paul Bettencourt - Paul Bettencourt is a Tax Man of a different stripe. Yes, he collects every penny owed to Harris County but Paul is a state leader in the fight to cap run away appraisals by greedy districts and dishonest officials. Come and give Paul a great big Thank You for his service to the Citizens of Texas.
Honorable Eva Guzman - 14th Court of Appeals Justice - Appointed by Governor Rick Perry and elected to full term in 2004, The Honorable Eva Guzman is a shrewd and prudent legal mind on the Court of Criminal Appeals. Guzman is a vanguard on two fronts showing that both Hispanics and women are succeeding in the conservative movement.
Honorable Mike Jackson - TX State Senator, District 11 - Hailing from nearby La Port, Senator Jackson is a beacon of light for conservative principles from the Houston Ship Channel to the southern shores of Texas City on Galveston Bay. Mike Jackson is a husband and father and successful builder in the Bay Area.
Honorable Kyle Janek - TX State Senator, District 17 - Born and raised right here in Galveston County, Senator Kyle Janek is a respected physician and an avid defender of lower taxes and better Government. Come congratulate Senator Janek on being named Galveston County Daily News Citizen of The Year.
Honorable Larry Taylor - TX State Representative, District 24 - State Representative Larry Taylor was a part of the History Maker 2002 Team as the first Republican from Galveston County to be elected to the Texas State House. Honorable John Ellisor - 122nd District Court Judge - Another of the History Maker 2002 Team was John Ellisor, the first District Court Judge in Galveston County to be elected on the Republican Ticket. John has brought a spirit of fairness, impartiality and deep integrity long needed in the courts in Galveston County.
Honorable Lonnie Cox - 56th District Court Judge Cox sent shock waves through the liberal ranks when he defeated a sitting District Court Judge in 2004. Faced with seeing Galveston County suffer under this arch-liberal for another four years, Lonnie came on board and won a resounding victory. We are all looking forward to a great term as he presides in the 56th District Court.
Honorable Kevin Walsh - Galveston County Treasurer - The final member of the History Maker team of 2002, Galveston County Treasurer Kevin Walsh was the first Republican elected to a contested countywide office in 150 years. With deep roots in Galveston Island and solid conservative principles Kevin Walsh is impressing everyone with a Treasurers department that works.
Honorable Cheryl Johnson - Galveston County Tax Assessor - Collector The Friendswood Firebrand, Johnson is newly elected and making incredible changes for the better in the Assessors office. Johnson rolled up her sleeves and went straight to work on her new her responsibilities, working to eliminate the backlog generated by years of incompetent leadership.
Honorable Ken Clark - Galveston County Commissioner Commissioner Clark is a veteran of conservative politics in Galveston County. To this day he is the lone Republican on Galveston County Court shinning a light on wasteful tax and spend policy that has stymied Galveston Countys economy for so long.

OLIVER NORTH's outstanding Interviewee on his FoX News Channel 'War Stories' TV Show about heroes =

Viet Nam Vet Ollie North nailed Hanoi Kerry on his false 1971 testimony.
"Kerry testified under oath before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971 that Americans in Vietnam had "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war."
Set aside the horrific and defamatory nature of these accusations and ask this: Did he witness these atrocities? Did he try to stop them? If not, was he held accountable for dereliction of duty? If he knows the perpetrators, did he ever see that they were brought to justice? If not, why?"

I'm a big fan and supporter of Lt. Colonel North, a brave patriot who put his career on the line in the Reagan White House's epic struggle against Soviet and central American Communism in the 1980's and put his very life on the line to bring us fair and respectful reporting of the Iraq war as an embedded reporter for the Fox News Channel. You probably couldn't find a better keynote speaker for your convention (On the other hand, I could probably do without Ron Paul. Is he the congressman for your district over in Galveston or something and you have to take him?).
.
JOHN KERRY came back from Vietnam to call us Vietnam Vets who fought for Freedom there...
...Rapists and Terrorists who cut off heads & ears.
MEL GIBSON came back from filming our real Vietnam War Story titled "WE WERE SOLDIERS" so deeply inspired that he just had to finally make his long planned ultimate story of Love and Sacrifice titled...
.."The PASSION of the Christ"
I wonder who got it right..?
From 1 year ago today see:

We are thrilled to have Oliver North and we are thrilled to have the rest of our guests.
I understand the angst true rightsters have with Ron Paul but he is standing on principles. I think they are misapplied sometimes but at least he has them and consistently stands by them.
How about the rest of those guests?!?
Tom DeLay , John Culberson and Henry Bonilla
We also had a late commitment from Texas Supreme Court Justice David Medina and my good friend Harris County GOP Chairman Jared Woodfill.
Not to mention more than a couple of Freepers like anymouse and BellStar and others.

Oliver North speaks to standing-room-only crowd at Riverside Theatre
By Ed Bierschenk
staff writer
February 8, 2005
VERO BEACH Many of the young soldiers involved in the Iraqi firefights of today have little memory of the time when the retired lieutenant colonel reporting on their activities was the center of a firestorm of controversy involving another U.S.-Middle East conflict.
"Some of them will have read some of my books. They'll know me as the guy who has that military show on Fox (News Channel) and they know I was a Marine and that's about it," said Oliver North, a key figure in the covert 1980s arms-for-hostages deal during the Reagan administration. "Some of them were in diapers, some not even born when that was going on."

Polarizing figure
North, a polarizing figure who was viewed by people of differing political persuasions as either a hero or villain in the Iran-Contra scandal, received an overwhelmingly warm reception Monday afternoon as he spoke to a standing-room-only crowd at Riverside Theatre as part of its Distinguished Lecturer Series.
North did not dwell on that long-ago controversy, but rather focused on his time traveling with troops serving in Iraq.
Fort Pierce resident Richard Lund seemed to reflect the view of many in the audience when he said he thought North came across "exceptionally well" in detailing "the character of the men and women in our uniform."
Still, even in the largely supportive crowd, there was some dissent.
"I dislike the man intensely," said Vero Beach resident Priscilla Elder. "I don't think he is any better than he was during the Iran-Contra thing and I really object to even having him here."
North said he was supportive of President Bush's recent refusal to set a timetable for the removal of the troops from Iraq and spoke positively of how events in that country are unfolding. It is a positive view that he believes many in the media fail to convey.
"I think he very well explained that what you hear from our media about the war in Iraq is completely different from what you hear from people who have been there and who are in the Army there," said Vero Beach resident Ralph Cheatham.
According to North, U.S. troops know that setting a timetable would be an "open invitation" to enemy forces to "simply bide their time because Iraqi forces aren't yet able to take care of their own security."
Training Iraqi forces
North said the day is "quickly coming" when Iraqi forces will be ready, however, thanks to the support and training they are receiving from the U.S. military.
North said much of the media's perception of those serving in the military is wrong.
"Today's military is brighter, more educated, better trained, better equipped and bigger" than any in history, said North.
North showed slides depicting the aftermath of a suicide bomb attack and young soldiers who were grievously injured and killed.
He spoke of one soldier wounded 47 times who, despite orders to return home, went back to his unit. He spoke of soldiers fiercely loyal to their commanders.
He spoke of a Navy corpsman who made sure an enemy soldier received medical attention and that the reported abuse of Iraqi prisoners is the exception to the rule when it comes to how U.S. servicemen and servicewomen treat their prisoners.
North emphasized the increasing involvement by women in the leadership of Iraq is crucial to changes in that country as he related a conversation he had with the elected governor of Iraq's largest province.
"No woman who carries a child for nine months, goes through the pain of childbirth, wants the child to grow up to be a suicide terrorist," the Iraqi leader reportedly told North. "What they want from us, we the politicians, is to give their children something to live for instead of something to die for."
Ping. . .
I've moved seven times through five states since 1994. Harris County is the only place that I'm certain has made the effort to remove me from the voting rolls before the next election. For all I know, I'm still registered in three states besides the one where I reside. Mr. Bettencourt has done very well in that office.
Bill
Thanks, Texas Mom. All SE Texas FReepers should let their friends know that Lt. Col. North will be storming the seawall in Galveston on March 19th. Don't miss your chance to meet a real-live hero.
PS I'll be joining Brazoria on Friday Night so look for me...
Hey, I like this idea...
I would not attend any meeting named in honor of Licoln.
