"I would have thought Christians would welcome the release from an imprisoned body and experience the promised eternal life. At least that is the way my wife and I look at it."

That could apply to a great many of our lives.

There are millions of people who suffer from debilitating diseases and would not survive without the assistance of others and machines. What about the kidney patient who regularly goes for dialysis treaments and without them would die? Or the cancer patient on chemo many of whom also have feeding tubes? Or the quadriplegics imprisoned by their own bodies many of whom are on feeding tubes? The list goes on an on.....Do you suggest freeing them ALL by starvation/dehydration?

You said, "Why can't a judge order a video of Terri for the world to see that she isn't a VEGETABLE?! Or why can't her parents do that?!"

As I understand it, Michael does not allow them to take cameras or video cameras into the hospice.

Or going through the nursing homes and euthanising every Alzheimer's patient, or everyone suffering from heart disease? Or those with MS. What about patients with CP? Shall we off them all?

The Judge doesn't want the world to see. When he ordered Terri's feeding tube removed (was it the first time?) her sister knew that Terri could still survive because she could eat orally. But when sister showed up at the hopice with food she was thrown out and then forbidden to visit Terri again. The judge thundered from the bench, "I don't want anyone feeding that girl! The rule of law in this case is that she is going to die!" So you see...it really doesn't matter if Terri actually doesn't need the tube or if she can eat on her own or survive...they just want her dead.

Good idea.

But, I was thinking along the lines of California Gov. Gray Davis who had been relected and then impeached shortly thereafter.

My comments were not directed to you personally. The question i pose is whether it is possible that the judge is reacting to economic pressures? Does any one really believe that when a man puts on a black robe that he can not be pressured, or that he does not owe something to someone? Does anyone doubt that insurance companies are powerful political forces and are responsible for the appointment of insurance friendly judges. If so you have not read some interesting decisions that interpret insurance law in favor of insurance companies and against claimants. Do you suppose it is reasonable to assume that the judge may have ulterior motives and is seeking to create law that he believes is good because it will reduce the cost of medical insurance? I'm simply saying that this judge's opinion is so bad and contrary to the common law that one must consider the possibility that he has a hidden agenda.

Yes, I noticed that too, and I am in complete agreement with Terri's father that HINO changed his story from coma to PVS to Terri's wishes, etc.

They are changing the story, making things up as they go along, Greer doesn't give a rats @$$, etc.

Awful.

Oh, yes, it's the only thing I can think of that would explain the irrationality. There is another possibility, given his, "I don't want anyone feeding that girl," line, however. Maybe he just doesn't like his godhood being questioned.

My, what a good Baptist boy he is, huh?

Sounds good to me, TR. Even though I adored Ronald Reagan, I never did like that 11th commandment.

So do you think it is OK to starve and dehydrate someone to death, just because they are helpless and cannot speak up for themselves? We don't even do that to convicted murderers, child-molesters, and rapists. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Kouvorkianism is alive and well even on FR.

the possibility that he has a hidden agenda

Yes, he seems part and parcel of the euthanasia movement through his friendship with George J. Felos and the hospice leadership.

There ought to be a lot of shame faced head hanging around here, actually...but don't hold your breath. Those that want an innocent woman hideously murdered would never, themselves, be willing to stand and watch it...but God is keeping a diary of words being spoken and thoughts being thought. He is the final Judge...and he doesn't advocate the murders of innocent, helpless people.

Yea, even Dickens could not have created a carciature of a fictional judge as cruel and heartless as George W. "Haman" Greer.Excellent! Greer is without a doubt both Dickensian and a ....!
