Colo. workers vote 17-1; labor group wants results thrown outThe Associated Press
LOVELAND, Colo. - Workers at a Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express voted 17-1 against union representation Friday, rejecting efforts to establish what would have been the first union United Food and Commercial Workers spokesman Dave Minshall said the group will ask the National Labor Relations Board to throw the results out, saying no union member was allowed to observe the election and Wal-Mart added employees to the unit to dilute the strength of the union supporters.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokeswoman Christi Gallagher said the union was offered an opportunity to provide a substitute observer but could not find one. She said any workers added to the operation were a response to business needs and not part of an anti-union effort.
Minshall said workers had been subjected to intimidation and harassment before the vote. Josh Noble, a tire shop worker who said he voted in favor of the UFCW, said he had been harassed by other Wal-Mart employees and that managers kind of blew it off when he reported one incident.
Its fear that won this election for Wal-Mart, Minshall said.
Gallagher said she could not comment on incidents reported by employees or the way in which they were handled, but she said the company does not tolerate harassment or discrimination.

Wal-Mart had objected to even holding the vote, saying the Tire & Lube Express was not a stand-alone operation but only a department of the larger store.

Same thing happend at Firestone in Memphis...the foundry had been there since 1921...but the greedy union went out on strike one too many times...
I once had a Human Resources guy tell me that he had worked in a plant where the union kept trying to get in...again and again they were voted out...so the HR guy asked the union thug why they kept trying when it was obvious that the people did not want them there...His response was at least HONEST for once from a union thug:
"We don't CARE if they don't want us...we are a buisness and we HAVE to have them."
"17-1 against union representation Friday"
"and Wal-Mart added employees to the unit to dilute the strength of the union supporters. "
ALL 17 ?!
HA!
Bones
The people trying to unionize Wal-Mart must be complete idiots. Colorado is about as anti-union as a state can get. People in Loveland who are working for Wal-Mart are happy to have those jobs, I can tell you. You have to make a lot of sacrifices to live around tourist areas in the Rockies.
They should have tried it California. Those people will fall for anything (no offense, guys).
Typical Democrat infested union response, poor babies!
If only the people realized that. Unions are out for themselves.
If you lived in Iowa, the disappearance of the CRI&P was something that just couldn't happen- but there it was (or rather, wasn't). Other roads gleefully took the healthier parts, the rest went begging, and almost a century-and-a-quarter of railroading (such as it was) basically vanished... along with the jobs. I believe Fred Kroll kept his job, though.
So did the guy stand by his vote?
Get back to your latte and copy of Mother Jones.
I can't believe you continue to support the BS you spew.
Wal Mart should just have a standing policy, any store that goes union is CLOSED. Enough said.
Having personally watched (for over 30 yrs) the UAW destroy the US car industry all I can say is GO WAL-MART!
Walmart doesn't put anyone out of business. Lack of sales puts business' out of business. I can't stand shopping in Wal-Mart and if there is a "mom & pop" store that treats me right and gives me fair pricing, I'm there.
Just to stir up some trouble, there is another Wal-Mart thread HERE:

You must live in Madison.
Ah, good old UFCW Local 7, messing up again. For the last week or so, I've been hearing Dave Minshall declare on local radio how great this victory will be for the union and, lo and behold, he was wrong again. Minshall has also been one of the prime movers towards behind encouraging the workers at the big 3 local Supermarkets to strike, a move that the national boys have quietly warned against.
Come to think of it, I don't remember a successful strike by Local 7 in the past 20 years. They keep having to slink back to the bargaining table after a few weeks. But I'm sure that it has nothing to do with Minshall's leadership.
Crawl back into your union office.
You've got no idea what you're talking about.
You're SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo bad!!!!
LOL!!!
