Officials: Infant Girl Was Sexually Abused

HOUSTON (AP) - An infant who prosecutors say was sexually assaulted is expected to be released from a hospital in the next few days and make a full recovery, officials said.

The 7-month-old has been removed from a respirator and is eating on her own, County Child Protective Services spokeswoman Estella Olguin said Wednesday.

The baby suffered damage to every vital organ and her tongue had been nearly severed when she was admitted to the hospital Feb. 2, police said. Prosecutors say she was sexually assaulted.

``We've never seen those types of injuries in a baby that was alive,'' Olguin said.

The child's parents, Ivan Castaneda, 22, and Donna Marie Norman, 19, have been jailed and charged with injury to a child. Attorneys for both parents deny that their clients were responsible for the injuries.

The parents took her to a hospital Feb. 2 and said she was suffering from congestion. When doctors examined her, they found severe internal and external injuries.

The baby and her 16-month-old sister were expected to be placed in an adoptive home.

May I ask a dumb question? Why is The Guardian reporting on a child abuse case in Houston?

Texas legislature is in session.

Pedophillic rape seems like a good thing to make a capital crime.

Get a rope. First off, calling them parents is an overstatement. You bastards exist to insure things like this don't happen to your child. (/rant)

Sick! It's things like this that sometimes make me wish the Constitution didn't say anything about "cruel and unusual punishment"

That's easy. Anything that can make Bush look bad is news.

The child was molested in Texas. Bush is from Texas. Therefore, Bush could also be a child molester.

Liberal logic is so simple.

No, the Constitution is right.

Cruel and Unusual has been twisted by Liberals who want to outlaw any punishment.

Look at the punishments of the early colonies and of Europe. Cruel and Unusual means torture. It means we can't take this couple, and disembowel them, quarter them, or think up something cruel that is not usual.

This couple should be Caned. I wish I lived in Singapore. Oh wait! This wouldn't have happened in Singapore.

Wellll that must mean that little infant was simply hanging around with the wrong crowd, you know, some of those baby gang members. Hey, the biological parental units (hereafter known as 'BPUs') say they didn't do it, so that settles that, right? In a pig's eye.

If the great state of Texas put these people to death, the world would never cease gasping and weeping over their fate.

These two persons should die for this and I usually don't think criminals should die. But these two are asking to die.

Yeah, I know you are right.

But still, when I think of a 7-month infant being sexually abused like this all the sudden a lot of medieval punishments don't sound so bad.

I guess that means I can't use my baseball bat & blowtorch method...

Why is The Guardian reporting on a child abuse case in Houston?

These scumbags are from Texas. The President is from Texas. The guardian is trying to connect the two.

A 9MM to the back of the head

I've always been fond of drawing and quartering for particularly heinous crimes. They should never have done away that one. Then it would be cruel, but not unusual.
