Having extensive experience with life in the Middle East I think that the lashes will be administered by a mutawa ((im)moral police official)who will have to clamp a Koran in the armpit of the arm that he uses to lash with. If he drops the Koran, the procedure is finished. My mom used to hit me harder than what I have witnessed. Still, no one should have to undergo this public humiliation.
It's difficult to ever imagine such societies joining the 21st century while they subject their women, their very daughters to such brutal treatment even when they are the victims in the incident in question.
Always remember that we are dealing with the religion of peace. Why should they want to join the 21st century when they have not progressed beyond the 7th when it comes to their religious phylosophy?
