FOX NEWS: Pope has been taken to operating room. Doctors preparing to operate.
--I pray he will have have a pain-free time. Nobody should be in pain. The soul is more important than the body, that is all I am trying to say.--
So do we all...thank you for that...
The Pope personifies what being a Christian is all about.

Your first 6 sentences were roughly phrased, it is clear you are no diplomat, but what you say is true enough. You move from simply poor tact to bad manners in sentence 7. By your last sentence you have finally progressed straight to flamebaiting. Really, on a thread about the pope being near death, it's an amazingly self-destructive tantrum to throw. There are lots of threads to discuss the pros anc cons of Catholicism.
Well said, and spat, Petronski.
Have a safe trip.
Blessings to you too, friend.
No, it's more along the lines of calling the parent to come deal with a child that doesn't know how to behave, and probably needs a 'time out' to come to his/her senses and regain the ability to play nice.
This is NOT a philosophy thread; it's a BREAKING NEWS THREAD; in case you don't realize how those "work," we're discussing ONGOING NEWS.
Take it somewhere else.
Here's a whole forum for you:
amen and the moderator has issued a warning
Hell won't prevail against His church. The Lord didn't bow down to the temptations of Satan when He walked the Earth, before shedding blood to wash away all sins. We may be sinners in the flesh, but our sins are washed away as long as we acknowledge that He sacrificed himself so that we may live in His Kingdom after our time on Earth.
I saw your request to have this comment removed, and that is to your credit. What follows is not intended as a flame, but only as a serious reply to a point that I think is legitimate for many people.
I was raised a Roman Catholic. However, as an adult, I have not followed any organized religion. I also wonder why popes (this or any pope) gets the kind of saturation media coverage they do. Nevertheless, this particular man, Pope John, played a very important role behind the scenes in helping to bring down the Soviet Union and free the eastern European countries, starting with his native Poland.
So, for that reason alone, even if one does not adhere to the Roman Catholic religion, this pope is deserving of enormous respect. In that spirit, I pray to our gracious Lord to ease the man's suffering; to help him get well quickly if that is that is the Lord's purpose; or to allow him to slip away peacefully if the Lord prefers to call John home.
BTTT!
Bump.

Debating Catholicism is one thing, but to the posters on this thread (except for a couple) it is like they are in the waiting room, waiting to hear news about a family member.
Do you really think it is an approriate time to debate Catholicism?
My mother died from something very similar 2 weeks ago, and I know that I would have slugged anyone starting a religious debate at the time the doctors were trying to save her. And yes, she was old, 75, but she was my mom and it hurt.
If you don't understand that you are intruding at the wrong time, then I think you need to say some prayers for God to give you more empathy for others.
I remember His Holiness when we were so excited because he was a YOUNG pope: I believe he was in his 50's, and very vigorous. He was quite an athlete, loved to ski. I hate seeing him suffer.
I am praying for him to be returned to health, but it is in the hands of Our Father in Heaven.
Instead, think of how the Pope would handle it...he would pray for them, and bless them. It is time for us to focus on what he taught us. While we are grieving, do not give time to those who find fault. We have more important things about which to be concerned now. Amen
"...I wonder what God Almighty thinks of Popes anyway...."
I believe He feels strongly about popes. Since He sent His Only Son to die for our sins, and that Jesus Christ bestowed, what in essence, became the Papacy, making Peter the first Pope, that would sum up the answer to your question. I'm Catholic and pray for Pope John Paul II. If it is His desire to bring him Home, so be it. We can't question His decision. I pray for the best, but expect the worst.
