WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a note to MSNBC Hardball anchor Chris Matthews, Doug Wead says he has come to realize that personal relationships are more important than history and that he is asking his attorney to find the best way to vet these tapes and get them back to the president to whom they belong.
Wead sent the note to Matthews and Hardball producers on Tuesday following the cancellation of his scheduled appearance on the program. Following is the text of the note from Wead to Matthews:
Dear Mr. Matthews,
I am so sorry to cancel your show. It was very gracious of you to allow me a chance to share my heart and regrets about recent events. It seems the better part of wisdom for me to forgo television for a time. It would only add to the distraction I have caused to the presidents important and historic work.
Contrary to a statement that I made to the New York Times, I have come to realize that personal relationships are more important than history. I am asking my attorney to direct any future proceeds from the book to charity and to find the best way to vet these tapes and get them back to the president to whom they belong. History can wait.
Thanks for your consideration,
Doug Wead

Yikes. Nope, not a good topic to watch before bedtime. Well, thank goodness for FR when insomnia strikes.
why do you allow this person to continue posting on this site? This person has no interest in our point of view but to put down the conservative point of view.
I don't know, it's more than any other person who tried to make a buck has done.
I also sent a complaint against this person..more than past time to zot this idiot!
What he is trying to do now is exactly the same thing that the kid that murders both his parnets and then throws himself upon the mercy of the court because he is an orphan.
The harm, if any,of the tapes has already been done.
If, and I don't believe that he is,is repentant it is because the release of the tapes did not produce the results he intended.
No one but the Bush haters cared about the tapes anyway.
Who cares about those buffoons.
a two-faced, back-stabber...
The scary thing about that movie is how unprepared they were for the bomb.
I've seen the movie twice and the first time it scared me. The second time it encouraged me to find out what we should do if it happens.
It finally got me off my behind and made me start getting my emergency kit and meeting information ready for my family.
What are you talking about?
Looks like somebody doesn't appreciate your sense of humor, but I do :-)
Well ladi-da. Leak all the stuff and then try to suck to the Prez now. He's either trying to have it both ways or is just a dumnass.
If he believes they belong to President Bush, there is no reason to vet them, just give them back to President Bush
Me thinks he's gonna dump them on the media so they can cherry pick them for anything negative
It is hilarious.
I cracked up the first time I heard her call him Richard
I should listen to her. She's not on in our area, gotta good link?
I'm doing the same thing, texasflower.
Our local sheriff distributed a booklet on what to have on hand in an emergency and I've just been reviewing it during the panel discussion following the movie.
LOL. I don't think she understood the joke there.
No, but on her website, http://www.lauraingraham.com/public/ she has a subscription thing to listen online.
She is worth it, and better than all of the other blowhards on the radio. Funny, very bright, great guests, unapologetic about her religion, and passionate about GWB and the military.
She is also on WABC in NY from 6-10pm ET, and they stream online.
