Two thirds are made in Anniston Army Depot, Ala. The rest are made in London, Ontario, Canada.

I was pondering the possibility of any missile using the great circle route running out of gas, a bit short of the intended target. Would the country lauching it even bother to say oops?

I guess Canada is in a trusting mood...

Maybe the Canadian Prime Minister would have said "yes", if there was just one successful test with the system. It even failed in unrealistic scenarios with gps-transmitting missiles to be intercepted.

When will it work or will it ever work? That's the important questions.

Canada rapidly dropping to the rank of a third world country. Take away jobs that America gives them and they are done.

I think Donald Rumsfeld best addressed this issue:

DR: "I think the word "deploying" needs to be calibrated. What's being done here is not a pure test and not a pure deployment, but deploying the pieces of the capability that will evolve into an early missile defense capability, and the way to do that, according to the people who are working on this -- and I agree and subscribe to the concept -- is to get it in the ground in a modest way, work the problems, keep testing, and as that capability evolves, you will begin to have the early stages of a missile defense capability. If you didn't do anything until you could do everything, you probably wouldn't do anything."

Quite the opposite..actually the first sign that the Domiunion is starting to fragment....the separatists in Quebec want yet another vote....and another, and other, until they get what they want...soon, you're going to see a movement in the western provinces to chuck it all, and let them go..I do hope we take PEI in as well..good mussels..

Don't worry! Our engineers are highly intelligent and well trained. They will be able to program our interceptors so the ignore and missiles headed farther north. After all we would not want to waste any of the precious defense missile on people that don't really like us, would we?

I completely agree to Donald's statement, but i think as long as the progresses made in the system's developement can't be shown in a successful test, it may be difficult for Canadians to believe in it's future.

I agree completely. My great grandfather tried to tell the Wright brothers that "it will never fly", but the damn fools kept trying.

Hi there Dummieland! Why is it that you can sign up and post here at will but DU will not let poor people sign up to their site? I can't afford to be a Dimocrat.

True. But it sounds like they are opting out of even the possible development of the system. In other words they don't want to take part developing it *but* if it ends up working you can bet they will benefit from it. This essentially sums up the type of relationship we have with Canada and it frustrates many Americans.

Anyone living in the U.S. that knowingly buys a Canadian product is a traitor.

Well, that's all the more reason to buy a Japanese or European car. Many GM, Ford and Chrysler models come from Canada.

I love my Mazda.

That pretty much sums it up. Martin (Mr. Dithers) is an embarrassment. You can't trust a word he says.

I'll be the Canadian government just winds up quietly leasing large tracks of northern terrority to a little known company called ecroF riA setatS detinU, Inc. That way they can publically take a stand but in reality, they'll fold like a laundromat.
