The Florida Department of Children and Families has moved to intervene into the legal battle over the life of Teri Schiavo. Details of the agency involvement in the case were not immediately available.
The DCF involvement came hours after Florida Governor Jeb Bush told reporters that he would seek a means to intervene in this case.
George Felos, who represents Teri's husband Michael, criticized the DCF move, saying it 'reeks of the intervention of politics' in this case and is an affront to the court.
David Gibbs, attorney for Teri's mother and father, countered there were serious allegiations of abuse in the case. The Schlindlers have accused their son-in-law of mistreating his wife, Michael has emphatically denied the accusations.
Speaking at an afternoon news conference in Tallahassee, Gov. Bush said he was exploring options to block the removal of the feeding tube and called his involvement 'a work in progress.'
Bush said he had received tens of thousands of emails and telephone calls from supporters ecouraging him to keep Terri Schiavo alive. The governor said he is working with his legislative staff to see what can be done.
'People with deep faith and big hearts are concerned, as I am about the circusmstances that Ms. Schiavo is in,' the governor continued.
'I want them to know that I will do what I can.'

Our GOD is a mighty GOD
I was listening to Barbara Simpson's radio show sometime last year (she's on weekends on KSFO in the San Francisco Bay Area) and she had the Schindler's previous lawyer on. She said that Michael Shiavo had petitioned the courts to be allowed to use the settlement money for lawyer's fees. Imagine that. Using the money that was to be spent on Terri's rehabilitation and care to pay lawyers to find a way to kill her instead.
Yes. And anyone fool enough to encourage the extermination of non-producers will change their minds real quick when it's their turn.
VOICE: He's lying. No Sandman ever ran.
2ND VOICE: You don't run. You kill runners. You have killed runners all your life.
LOGAN: Yes I have. Now it's my turn. And I want to live.
You're wrong too. It happens to hit the media only when someone raises a stink.
I hope that if Hardass tries to skewer him with "right to die" that Mr. Schindler gives him both barrels.
Did Hannity have anyone on his radio show today about this?
Im not sure who Hannity has scheduled on TV tonight...
As long as it's behind closed doors, it happens easily. But when someone raises a stink, and it gets the media's attention, which in turn gets the public's attention, a much bigger stink is raised.
There are fringe elements who advocate genocide against the disabled, but society in general does not approve. We haven't yet become Nazi Germany.
Greer and Michael knew what they were doing when they got full guardianship for Terri.
Hey hey hey - kindred spirits - that's where I believe I heard it - on Barbara's show one Saturday. I think listening to the discussion got me so upset that my better half had to turn it off because he was afraid I was going to break the car window.
If that helpless woman dies, I don't give you $5 for Michael Schiavo's life. I don't advocate violence, but I'm telling you, there are boys in the South that will find this treatment of a defenseless woman sooo outrageous that they'll find a dark alley and no witnesses.
"I think he did a hell of alot given the circumstances."
He was given such a hard time but this isn't as easy as telling the court that they can't do it. It has to be done correctly in order to prevent future attempts on Terri's life.
Yeah, but they didn't know about us!
I used to think, in my younger days, that perhaps abortion on demand was a right and not so bad.
Now I'm ashamed I ever felt that way. Look at the thinking that mindset has morphed into. What's next? I don't want to know.
AMEN and AGREEING............."MY GOD"......THANK YOU MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because he wants to keep his "property" and Terri's property, too. Real life is just not like Law and Order.
I sent the Governor a thank you note. He should know that we appreciate what he's trying to do. Let this entire situation be a lesson about 'living wills,' even for the young (can anyone imagine Terri saying to pull the plug?) and to maybe consider appointing your birth family to be custodians in the event of lost capabilities. Let's face it, today marriages fail but our birth families love us no matter what. Well, mostly.
If there is a ruling to remove the feeding tube, I envision someone finally having the nerve to get a swat-style team together, take that poor woman out of that hospice (why is she there, anyway? Her condition isn't terminal until they stop feeding her) and out of the state and protect her. This really has has me angry.
The wording in this law is preposterous!
Is there any reasoning as to how the law got "set up" that way?
It makes NO sense! The "wording" must be a joke.
Don't worry about me ...........I'm just thankful and frustrated all at the same time.
Oh geeze, he'd lose all his good stuff. Maybe we could send him a tissue or hankie.
I called for a recall of Judge Greer.
I don't know who would call for a the Gov.
