Uh-oh! The othwer jolly green giant could be in trouble. 'Shrek 2' is the latest animated film title to be outed by Christian fundamentialsts in the United States.
On its website, the Traditional Values Coalition is warning parents about cross dressing and transgendered themes contained in the DreamWorks feature, now out on DVD.
'Shrek 2 is billed as harmless entertainment, but contains subtle sexual messages,' says the coalition which describes itself as a grassroots inter-denominational lobby with more than 43,000 member churches.
'Parents who are letting their children see this film may wish to consider the following,' the article then goes on to describe one of the characters, an 'evil' bartender (voiced by Larry King) who is a male to female in transition and expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming.
In another identified scene, Shrek and Donkey need rescuing from a dungeon by Pinocchio and his nose, which is made to extend as an escape bridge by getting the wooden by to lie about not wearing women's underwear.
So far, the coalitions 'gaydar' has not caught up with Dreamworks' 'Shark Tale' in which a shark mafioso, voiced by Robert Deniro, must come to terms with the fact that he has a vegetarian son who likes to dress up as a dolphin.

Yes, Pinocchio is portrayed as being a little fruity.
Yes, it was funny.
Yes, it was proper to rate the movie PG-13 for such humor.
I remember when Popeye and Bluto dressed up as women. The sky didn't fall.
ohfercryinoutloud...
Bugs Bunny and Uncle Milty in dresses. No one died.
Loved Shrek 2. The "White Bronco" chase scene was funny.
Parents should be informed if there are homosexual (or any sexual) themes in entertainment aimed at children. What they do with the information is their business.
DITTO!
Get over IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Ah - what's this? A little catnip?"
"Uhh...that is not mine"
The original story is apparently several months old, by the way. I imagine this is being drug back up due to the SpongeBob affair.
I believe it was a hirsute woman, not a transgendered person.
Regardless, this is completely silly.
Or because they thought it was funny.
Don't forget Bugs Bunny. He tended to cross-dress a bit, too. Watched it a lot as a kid. Not a bit gay.
Shrek is ugly, a flaulating embarrasing non person, a socially gross, swamp and mud loving nerd. OUT WITH THESE GUYS. I refused to eat cereal this am offered to me by my cute grandkids. Can't there be ANYTHING that we can hate these days?
I think it's good to get real figures, with real life sitations back into our lives and OUT with Spider Man, Pokeman people, Power Rangers, take me back to the Little House on the Prairie.
That's even suggesting gay marriage, and it's already corrupted a couple of generations!
This anti-this and anti-that, is getting way outta hand.
Some people need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show and stop reading so much into something that isn't there.
Man - I sure do miss the classics that I grew up with. GI Joe, Transformers, Voltron - no agenda. Just fun.
