Secretary McKeithen Has Regained Some Feeling Feb 21, 2005, 04:26 PM CST Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

People across the state have been praying for Secretary of State Fox McKeithen after 9 News brok the story that he was paralyzed after a fall at his home. At a news conference held in front of the State Archives building Monday afternoon, McKeithen's daughter, Marjorie McKeithen, announced that Secretary McKeithen has had some movement and feeling return to his upper body. He had surgery to stabilize his neck and doctors say it was successful.

The circumstances surrounding McKeithen's injurious fall still remain a mystery. According to his daughter, McKeithen suffered some abrasions on his forehead and on the top of his head, possibly indicating that the Secretary of State struck his head on the brick wall outside his back door where he was found. Marjorie also said that Secretary McKeithen has also been asking from his hospital bed what happened to him. She says it may be a while before a true accounting of last Thursday's events will be known.

Watch for more on this developing story tonight on 9 News at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.

The fact that he has some feeling is very good news, I would think.
