Blueprint Calls for Bigger, More Powerful Government
Washington Post ^ | 2/9/05 | Jim VandeHei

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), said: "The Republican majority, left to its own devices from 1995 to 2000, was a party committed to limited government and restoring the balances of federalism with the states. Clearly, President Bush has had a different vision, and that vision has resulted in education and welfare policies that have increased the size and scope of government."

Pence, an influential leader of House conservatives, said 50 Republicans gathered in Baltimore this past week and discussed, among other things, an overwhelming desire to protest the expansion of government by opposing Bush's education plan for high school students. While only 33 House Republicans opposed the No Child Left Behind law in the first term, Pence predicted that a significantly larger number will vote against expanding the program to cover high schools. Michael Franc of the Heritage Foundation, a pro-Bush think tank, agreed. "It's a non-starter" in the minds of a large number of Republicans, he said.

I think this Mike Pence has president material---

Gipper--I have been seeing your friend on a lot of TV shows the last few months---

I am a Bush fan, but he will be gone in 4 years, and we need to find a dynamic man to get the Republicans excited.

McCain, Hagel ---uh, un, they just don't do it!!!

Another example is the federal prescription drug program. Only a small handful of people will actually benefit from this, which marks it as a giant $500 billion federal employment boondoggle. I don't think the rest of us like paying inflated salaries and $4000-a-month pensions to people who are not doing anything constructive.

I sure as h*ll don't appreciate food being taken off my family's dinner table to pay for grampa's Viagra. (Yes, Medicare pays for *&@#ing Viagra!)

Fix your link. I'd like to read the article.

Doesn't surprise me though. Mike Pence is the real deal and always has been.

Sorry the link doesn't work. Mike Pence does seem to be presidential material. He is the most ardent fiscal conservative and social conservatives champion this man. American Conservative Union told me that Mike Pence is their #1 guy. Same thing from Americans for Prosperity Foundation, Council For America, Eagle Forum, and Concerned Women for America. Ed Watch loves Mike Pence and so does NFRA and NTUF. Mike Pence may be the man we are looking for

My main concern is getting those Evangelicals out to the polls. They are not going to vote for any career politicians. They need a true statesman who is going to stand up and fight for true Christian principles. It looks to me like there is no better candidate than Mike Pence. He's got my vote!

Pence is a nice guy and from my home state, and I'd love to see a conservative in the White House for a change, but Pence for President? The guy doesn't have a whole lot of name recognition and I doubt the GOP is going to back a guy that's rocking the boat--as he's doing here with No Child Left Behind.

I believe that the Christians can get excited about a man who stands up and fights for the sanctity of life and marriage. He stood firm and got 127 congressional votes saying that we need a true Christian pro-life speaker during the prime time of the RNC, because they were putting up people like McCain and Guilliani (who are good guys) but they aren't Christians and they weren't articulating our Christian conservative values. Pence is a right-to-life hero! This is the man who is going to get the Christians excited about coming out to vote.

Wow! BransonRevival believes that Mike Pence may be the one who can excite the Evangelical voters to leave their homes and come out to the voting booths on election day. Pence, being a true Christian statesman, may be what our Nation is in search of in order to lead a Christian Revival and awakening that is so badly needed. Well, Pence has my vote also. Just need to get the word out to others, who is with me!!!!?????

Mike Pence, I am glad to say, comes from Indiana. I even talked to him when he hosted a radio program that is now hosted by Greg Garrison.

I would support him for president any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
