The group looking to boot the United Nations out of the U.S. is now blasting the global body for hiring aides to former presidential candidate John Kerry to help improve its image.
Peter Daou and Debra DeShong, both of whom worked for the Massachusetts Democrat in his campaign against President Bush, have taken on new roles with the U.N. Foundation, headed by former CNN mogul Ted Turner.
The employment of Kerry aides to "rescue" the U.N. "shows the United Nations is just like the Kerry campaign – it's failing," said Howard Kaloogian, co-chairman of Move America Forward.
"As the American people learn more about the rampant fraud and corruption occurring by the U.N. and it's top officials they are coming to realize that the UN is a failing institution. It's time wake up from the dream that this organization is capable of bringing us world peace. What was supposed to be an institution that promoted freedom and security has instead degenerated into an anti-American organization that coddles terrorists, dictators and despots."
WorldNetDaily reported last week that Americans' opinion of the U.N. is sinking, with just 37 percent polled saying they are favorably inclined to the organization.
Daou, a coordinator of the online rapid-response unit of the Kerry/Edwards campaign, was selected by the U.N. Foundation to promote the agenda of the United Nations and discredit conservative critics. He's the top administrator for the "U.N. Dispatch," which calls itself a "blog intended to promote thoughtful discussion about the U.N., and to provide an outlet for important news and views on the U.N."
The U.N. Foundation also operates the "Oil-for-food facts" website which defends the U.N.'s oil-for-food program and attacks those critical of the program's fraud and corruption.
Move America Forward says the U.N. Foundation recently paid for online advertising that tried to fraudulently paint the Iraqi elections as a result of efforts by the U.N., ignoring the efforts by the U.S.
In its first few weeks, the U.N. Dispatch criticized the Fox News Channel, reprinting harsh criticism from Media Matters of the network's probe into the oil-for-food program:
"Instead, viewers were treated to a host of glaring omissions, dubious sources, falsehoods and distortions, smears, and innuendo," said the Feb. 18 posting.
"On top of Kofi Annan appointing President Clinton to head the U.N.'s Asian tsunami relief program, it looks like Democrats are flocking to the U.N. With efforts to enact the Kyoto Accord and the United Nations' Law of the Sea Treaty, there seems to be an effort to change America policy through the U.N., since they have not been able to do it with American elections. But, first, they have to try and save it," said Move America Forward's other co-chairman, Melanie Morgan.
"All the kings horses and all the kings men are not going to save the U.N. as long as it continues to pursue a 'Blame America First' agenda instead of promoting freedom and liberty," she added.
So far, Move America Forward has collected nearly 100,000 signatures on our campaign to "Get the U.N. Out of the U.S." and to halt funding of the global body by American taxpayers.

The United Nations is a corrupt disgrace and it is time for the USA to WITHDRAW from and defund the United Nations. Please tell your senators, congressmen and everyone you know to support H.R. 1146 which would WITHDRAW the USA from the United Nations, prohibit US funds going to the UN and prohibit US troops serving under UN command. H.R 1146 is the American Sovereignty Restoration Act.
The whole mission of the UN is to take power, money and national sovereignty from the USA. Thus the United States must withdraw from and defund the UN, a worthless organization, and if we go, if we are lucky, the whole thing will implode.
All we need now is an endorsement of the UN by Algore.
