THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Newt Gingrich is demanding that the Bush administration get serious about stopping illegal immigration. The former House speaker wants the United States to completely seal off its border along Mexico and Canada, deport illegal aliens within 72 hours of their arrest and exclude U.S. courts from reviewing such deportations. "Let's be serious about sealing off our borders or [else] have open borders," Mr. Gingrich told more than 1,000 cheering conservatives on Saturday.

He's off and running. He alone will elect Hillary if he does however as a good deal of conservatives will vote for him, not the GOP candidate.
I think Newt has become unpopular with some for plainly stating the truth. Perhaps his "subtlety and nuance" need some work, but he's a good rep.
(And 'conservatives' are removed from the endangered species list.)

Why do hate Gingrich ? He only ruined the RATS, got GOP control of government and actually tells the truth about politics. If Newt runs I'm voting for him, you can have the RINO, Rudy.
Tha't why the RINO's hate him.
Actually, I disagree. Putting up some fencing and patrolling the border, while at the same time, vigorously deporting illegals as they are found, will send the message that this will no longer be accepted and the invasion will stop.
RINOS are great for New York and California but they get trounced when they run in national elections. Conservatism Wins, never fails.
My thought exactly -- he can't let Hillary have all the fun.
No, I think after the first hundred or so agribusiness and other business executives who illegally hire illegals go to jail and pay hefty fines, the cross-border flow will slow to a trickle that the Border Patrol can handle. Of course the chances of that happening are nil. It would mean enforcing the law which is now a sick joke.
Uh oh, Newt is deviating from the RNC/Karl Rove doctrine of open borders.
Hah! That will never happen as long as the President gets his way.
has anyone seen the top ten most wanted criminals in california lately? last time i checked they were almost all illegal aliens.
Just like in NM. We have been invaded from the south.
they are bringing our education system lower than even I thought possible. yet, it seems, NO ONE CARES except us racist/bigoted/heartless/xenophobic people that none of the media will listen to and who are reviled by the left and the clueless anti-American political/economic opportunists.
It's all in the game plan. The US is going down and it's at the hands of OUR own government. Because we care, we are called "racist/bigoted/heartless/xenophobic people ." And I DON'T care what they think!!!!
God save this country.
I believe America is under Judgment, and I don't expect God to help us. IF we aren't under His Judgment, we sure should be.
Agreed, but Bush is bringing about this dissention all by his lonesome. We need to CLOSE the borders to Mexico.
I noticed that whenever money, banking or finance is conserned, you are armed with the facts, and usually have a logical solution to any given dilemma. You must be one helluva businesswoman.
Those two have claimed, multiple times, that anyone who is against illegal immigration is really a closet racist who doesn't want any immigration.
You do not have to belive me, just check their posting histories.
"Yeah, but the 14th Amendment (the Constitution) refers to US citizens."
It would be nice to think so, but the courts have ruled otherwise.
It's important to remember the circumstances of when this was written and why.
The amendment was written with the intention of protecting slaves or former slaves. There was a concern that some weren't citizens or could be railroaded in court using that arguement. Hence, they did not include the word citizen.
Definitely!!! Either enforce the immigration laws or repeal them. The current situation is worse than either.
"This needs to be changed."
"They already did. it's called the Patriot Act."
Ahhh, yeah. Right.
"That is the problem with the courts today. They can find every reason in the book to rule the way they want to,"
Actually not in this case. I remember looking into this several years ago when the courts in CA ruled that the state had to accept illegals for health treatement.
In researching the origins of the 14th it turns out that the wording and the exclusion of the word citizen was a result of trying to protect the slaves. At the time some weren't citizens or it could be claimed to be that they weren't citizens so the drafters purposely left that word out to make sure they would be assured due process and "equal protection" in the courts. Sorry I didn't think of this in my last post.
It may have had some validity when written, but it certainly needs to be re-done!!!!
