Loved the scene where he retrieves his friend's wallet from the waitress's apartment and her naked husband chases him down the street.

And if you're referring to that tw@ in South Korea, then yes I'm sure he'll post a "tribute" which will be all about him and zero percent about Hunter.

The dude was totally over the top, the craziest stuff came out of him. But thats the way of the real artists. I didn't agree with over half the stuff he said, but he created his own unique, effective, and impossible to dismiss style to present it and that's damn hard to do.

There are a gazillion artists who pretend to be something special. We see them lauded every day when in fact they are not doing, and have never, done anything original. That is not the case with Hunter S. Thompson.

There are probably about two people on this forum that agreed with this guy's philosophy. I am not one of them. But I can tell you, this was a real artist, and you can't really fault those for being crazy. A real artist is a rare thing, and I'm sorry that he's taken the off ramp that so many of the real ones do.

He went out the way he lived.

More power to you Hunter, you are probably looking down(or up) at us laughing your ass off at all these Republican/Conservative people who loved your books and will miss you.

Hey sweetie!

Good to see ya in a place of reason.

Yeah, I almost got the two huge Hunter S. Thompson letters books from the library the other day, might go back.

I read all his stuff, brilliant cutting humor, and funny as hell. I don't care what his politics were, he had a great eye for the absurd.

Love him or hate him, he was an American original. No place else could have produced his like.

The idea of celebrating someone's death unless they were actively hurting people...and even then I'd just be indifferent to it...is creepy and inhuman.

Well said. Kozel probably heckles grieving Liberal families at funerals.

R.I.P Hunter.

OK, now everyone can stop using the phrase "gonzo journalism."

Yes, politics isn't everything. Humor maybe is.

." Hubert Humphrey was a "treacherous, gutless old wardheeler who should be put in a goddamn bottle and sent out with the Japanese current."

LOL, how can someone not laugh at that.

Recent HST quotes:
Not even the foulest atrocities of Adolf Hitler ever shocked me so badly as these photographs [of Abu Gharib] did. I am ashamed to carry an American passport.

Four more years of George Bush will be like four more years of syphilis

Kerry will win big today. I guarantee it. The evil Bush family of central Texas is about to suffer another humiliating failure on another disastrous election day.

Betting on George Bush to win this coming election would be like betting the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl.

Anyone know how much Thompson bet on Kerry? Did he lose the farm?
