Waldo Robert Cassato..

I'd have been happy to have the studio rename me "Carrot Top" had that been my real name - Darin had no bitch there; he got off easy.

Frankly I am not surprised by this.

Poor Sandra had been an alcoholic and pill popper for a lot of years and only recently had tried to get her life in some kind of order.

It was said that for many years she hardly ever left her apartment and had a very lonely life. Seems she suffered greatly after Bobby Darin died and that led to her long spiral down.

So, by saying that you are not surprised by her derelict life leading to an early and sad end that you now don't think that she brought it on herself (deserved it)?

Your twisting the words here. I pointed out what happened to her and that she had been working on turning her life around. But I also had been aware that she had battled throat cancer and she had kidney failure and was on dialysis. So from that perspective I wasn't to surprised to know she had passed away. I knew she had some very serious health problems.
I certainly wasn't taking any joy in her misfortune and it is a terrible shame that she let her depression get to the point that she was addicted to alcohol and pills. But she started dealing with it and was doing better, it's just that all those years did take a toll and her health suffered for it.
Find something else to rant about rather than your imagined slighting you think I had of her.
I was a big fan of hers when I was a kid and it depresses me when I see another icon from my youth gone and way too soon at that, 63 is just too Damn young to die in this day and age.

Haven't they made a new movie-starring Kevin Spacey-about those two?

I heard some promotional spot they aired on my local "Oldies" station, but never really thought about it after the program had ended.

Both of them seem to have led interesting-if not always pleasant-lives.

103-" it depresses me when I see another icon from my youth gone ".

I remenber her in "A Summer Place", and still love to listen to the theme.

It is scary - how we no longer are in the summer of our years, but entering the winter. It makes you stop and think, where did they go?

No doubt about that.

He's only made one movie that is actually watchable.

DO YOU KNOW WHO KILLED KEYSER SOSE?

Well, DO YA?

I never did watch that movie. Always meant to, because I had heard it was good.

I don't know what it is about Spacey. He just creeps me out.

I always liked her.
RIP, dear sad and tortured soul.

She's one I saw in person a good many years ago.
Very thin, but oh so beautiful.

The movie is "Beyond the Sea", and it is the best movie I've seen in about 10 years. Kevin Spacey produced it, wrote it, stars in it, and does all his own singing and dancing. He employs a very sophistcated and unusual method of moving the story line -- you just have to see it. I was pleased to learn that Sandra Dee saw it and loved it -- said she wouldn't change a frame of the movie.

If you remember Darin and Dee, you will love the movie. The music, staging, casting, acting are wonderful. I really don't know why it is not up for several Oscars.

I always wondered what happened to Sandra Dee, she was so lovely. What a sad life she had.

I wanted to see the movie, Beyond the Sea, but it was gone rather quickly. According to the web it will be out on DVD the 5th of April. Also the biography that Dodd Darin wrote, Dream Lovers, is now going for $50 or more if you can find it.
