Goodbye to the original Gidget. Damn I loved those movies!!
I wonder what the kidney disease was. RIP.
Wow, 63 is pretty young...
God rest her soul...
Goodbye Sandra :(
Frankly I am not surprised by this.
Poor Sandra had been an alcoholic and pill popper for a lot of years and only recently had tried to get her life in some kind of order.
It was said that for many years she hardly ever left her apartment and had a very lonely life. Seems she suffered greatly after Bobby Darin died and that led to her long spiral down.
Very sad, she was a pretty good actress and at one time what a beauty. Another idol from my youth gone.
I loved the recent moveie, "Beyond the Sea", about Bobby Darin. Sandra Dee was a big part of that movie. I wonder what she thought of it?
I am so sorry to hear of her passing at such a young age. RIP.
I remember the scene with Cliff Robertson..the "Big Kahuna"..
Unfortunately, Dee had a long history of anorexia and alcoholism. Too bad.
She had a very sad life; she never got over Bobby Darin.
On Larry King Live, her son said she loved it.

Hey, Fongul, I'm Sandra Dee
I gto to meet Bobby Darrin as a teenager..He graduated from my HS..Bx HS of Science, in NYC..his real name was Waldo Robert Cassato..he graduated a few years before I started there..he came back to school to endow a music scholarship..that assembly rocked..I remember it like yesterday..
Just saw on IMDB that she suffered throat cancer and kidney problems back in 2000. She she has been in ill health for a long time.
It is so sad and what a waste.
DARIN: What was interesting was her reaction when she saw the film.
KING: Which was?
DARIN: She went with her assistant to watch it privately. I wasn't there. Kevin wasn't there. That's how she wanted it. And she came over right afterwards to my house. And she's a good actress. But she ain't that good. She was speechless. She was just moved and touched. And she came in and she said, "you know, I'm so proud to have been part of his life, to have spent those years with him. I wouldn't trade it for anything."
And I was with my family, my daughters. And I just took the moment. And it was -- it was beautiful. Because she's had her share of problems, publicly, you know, over the years. And this was a shot in the arm, some joy for her, some happiness. And it was beautiful. It was a beautiful moment. And as she said, I mean, that's how it was.
SPACEY: She called me after.
KING: Oh, yeah?
SPACEY: And she was incredibly generous on the phone and said she wouldn't change a frame of the film. She was very, very happy.
January 15th:
KING: How's your mother today?
DARIN: She has good days and bad. I mean, I think you know, she has some kidney problems. But knock on wood, she's still fighting, and enjoying being a grandma.
KING: Still in love?
DARIN: That's forever.
