Maverick Republican Sen. John McCain said Sunday that his New York colleague, Sen. Hillary Clinton, would do well if she becomes president of the United States.
"I am sure that Sen. Clinton would make a good president," McCain told NBC's "Meet the Press," as both he and Clinton were being interviewed from Baghdad.
While noting that as a Republican, he'll be supporting the GOP nominee in 2008, McCain reiterated, "I have no doubt that Sen. Clinton would make a good president."
Asked whether she thought McCain would make a good president, Sen. Clinton was somewhat less effusive, responding tersely, "Absolutely" - before erupting in her familiar cackle.
Yeah but if it comes down to the two of them we'll have no choice but to get in line and support McCain, the alternative would be unthinkable. McCain at least has solid consevative credentials in areas such as abortion and fiscal responsibility.
Did you really expect him to trash Hillary while sitting next to her? What he said was no different IMHO than President Bush's praise of Bill Clinton at the White House a few months ago.
What is wrong with McCan't? He thought Kerry would make a good Pres. Evidently he thinks the Pres is an unimportant figurehead.
Is that what your crystal ball says?
That's exactly what McPain said.
What's bad is, with Russert and the rest (Sawyer, Walters, Couric, etc.) is that the real gushfest doesn't even begin until after the '06 election.
When Hillary gets reelected to her Senate seat, the MSMs will be making her into Saint Hillary of Ark for her '08 run for the White House.
Shrillary was all over the place this morning: MTP and Face the Nation for two. I absolutely, positively refuse to watch this woman and tuned out. That the Media Whore McCain appeared with her is not surprising. Can't someone stick a sock in his mouth?
I observed this too and smacked my forehead as soon as the shock of his answer wore off. This is exactly why this guy could never be POTUS. Falling into a sound byte trap like that demonstrates either:
1.) A significant problem with running one's mouth before one's brain kicks in. (A re-occurring problem for McCain)
or
2.) An unbelievable level of naiveté that his comment would be reciprocated. (It wasn't)
Thanks, McCain. Thanks for nothing.
We should not repay that debt by letting him be the President or a Senator. He should be home setting on his porch waving at people driving by.
Yes, of the Little Rock, Arkansas city dump. She generates enough garbage to keep them in business for years.
From a non-partisan point-of-view, I don't like the interviewing here. They ask both McCain and Clinton to evaluate the other as potential President, so everyone can enjoy their comparative lack of grace at answering this stupid impertinent question.
Media darling McCain.
How dare you insult pigs.
Lipstick on an ugly demon succubus is more apt.
He voted against the asssault weapons ban
Says "Guns are a problem, but so are violent web sites & videos"
Wants to
"Punish criminals who abuse 2nd Amendment rights"

He's pro gun. He's also a backstabber. That's why the media loves him.
I totally agree. Hillary would make a wonderful president of her local French Poodle club.
John? Do you think that Hillary might have a tad too much political baggage that would prevent her from being a 'good' president? What about HealthCareGate? What about WhitewaterGate? What about TravelGate? Craig Livingston? MonicaGate? Vince Foster? JuanitaGate? Just to mention a few.......
