How Corzine's giving keeps on giving back to him,
Newark Star Ledger ^ | 02.14.05 | DEBORAH HOWLETT

On an oddly shaped lot at the intersection of Westminster Place and Passaic Street in Garfield, the steel frame of the Rev. Calvin McKinney's new church rises to meet the clear, February sky.

McKinney has dreamed of building this church for 33 years, since he took over as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, where the modest stucco building belies McKinney's status as one of the most influential blackministers in New Jersey.

It was a dream deferred, until Democratic Sen. Jon Corzine gave McKinney $1.8 million from his charitable foundation.

The foundation, with Corzine as its only trustee, has showered charities with more than $32 million since Corzine entered the political arena five years ago.

Those charitable contributions -- on top of $8 million Corzine has donated to Democratic causes and candidates during the same period -- are another illustration of how Corzine's enormous personal wealth has transformed politics in New Jersey.

**********

For example, Corzine gave more than $1 million to the North Ward Center, a project run by Newark Democratic boss Steve Adubato. The gift was intended for the center's community activities, which include a senior citizens center and cultural events. Adubato did not return phone messages seeking comment.

******

But the $2.4 million Corzine has donated or loaned to black churches resonates differently.

"It's a little touchy for us," said Jackson, executive director of the Black Ministers Council, which represents 600 churches statewide.

In 2003, he made donations to eight black churches, mainly in small increments.

The Rev. Albert P. Rowe, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Paterson, was one of the few ministers who discussed the gifts. He said Corzine wrote a $10,000 check after he attended the groundbreaking for the church's new Family Life Center.

and $1.2 million to Catholic dioceses in New York and New Jersey, even though the New Jersey churches urged Catholics to vote against candidates, like Corzine, who support abortion rights.
The Catholic Church, Archdiocese of Newark,  accepts Blood Money from a 100% pro-abortion, anti-school voucher Politician's foundation.  And just try to put pro-life voters' guides in the parking lots of Catholic Churches around the area.  The priests will have you arrested.   Why was the church soft on McGreevey and other democrats with the communion issue?  As rumor has it, the state plans on building a sports arena in downtown Newark where the Church owns a lot of land and don't want to rock the boat since they intend to make millions selling the land to the state; they're even going to close some churches to do this.   And people wonder why Catholics are confused on voting and the abortion issue.  Corzine is going to buy this election and use the Protestant and Catholic Churches to his advantage.

The print edition had a chart listing all his contributions in the area from 1999-2003.  NY Cardinal Egan received $813,000, Newark Archbishop Myers received $375,000 in addition to direct donations to Catholic Schools: St. Benedict's Prep. $2,500 (Corzine also served as Co-chair along with another democrat, (I think it may have been Charles Kushner)  for the school's 50th anniversary which raised a lot of money), St. Vincent's Academy  $100,000 (don't forget it's a Sisters of Charity school and the Governor's (100% abortion) sister is a nun in that order)

So, if I make Corzine a trustie to my business....will it finally take off?

Maybe I should do that?

And if you get bored and want some excitement, go here: http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/charfrm.htm and type in any Islamic org or mosque in NJ and check their money status.

You're welcome.

Corzine is buying the election and the RCC is confusing their flock by accepting money from this pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage politician who is also against school choice which could benefit Catholic Schools.

don't count on it soon.

(However, the Republican party made lots of inroads with the Catholic Church during the last election. Keep praying!

It's what they are NOT saying...

Same with the Catholic: Governor, Senate President and Assembly Speaker who vote against school vouchers and for abortion, funding the embryonic stem cell institute.

All bishops are quiet on the home-front. Latest rumor is that the state bought property from the Newark archdiocese to build a democrat-party backed sports arena. $$$$ talks. and the bishops keep quiet, IMHO.

No luck so far! :-)
