There's a possibility that if the Sunni's keep this up, there won't be enough of them left for the Shias to worry about sharing power with.

The strategy is not to prevent detonation, but induce it prematurely.I am hopeful that Good people will prevail in this horror show.

This is what the clerics preach---death to infidels and apostates. A moment of pride for Islam.

I am afraid your little terrorists have committed a cardinal sin, Mr Zarqawi.
They have become boring and commonplace.
You are history.
To: MadIvan
Why don't they just collect the bomber leftovers and put them on a piece of tin out in front and walk away. Leave it like the carrion it is for nature's sweepers. A vulture eating a dead insurgent's flesh does not bring to mind 72 virgins for that corpse.

An interesting and very good report that leaves one feeling that despite the horrors of the terrorists there is hope of a mature Shia majority emerging and taking it's rightful place as the political majority that will rule. The fact that the Shia have taken these hideous attacks again and again without taking the bait to engage in sectarian violence should encourage us all to realize the Shia are going to form a bulwark of democracy in Iraq much like the Jews in Israel. They'll have their own agenda, but it appears likely it will be a rule of law and a civil agenda. Critics have not seen this mature majority nor its magnanimity.

'It is the rage of losers. No matter how many they kill, we have won,' said one Shia cleric. Yeah, we got some of that over here. At least ours aren't blowing themselves up... yet. |

"detonating his explosives belt. The top of his head flew towards the road, the bottom half and his torso towards the mosque, the legs just disintegrated. Two worshippers were wounded by shrapnel."The terrorists seem to be having a problem with explosives assembly. If your homemade claymore disintegrates your own legs instead of killing the throngs of innocent worshippers all around you, then you've probably botched the construction of your weapon.
Also, take note that *last* year during Ashura (the current religious holiday), the terrorists killed 180.
This year: 55.
So their effectiveness is now down to less than a third of their old peak.
Of course, we saw that they were impotent to stop the Iraqi elections, so this current situation shouldn't come as a big surprise...nonetheless, it's worth tracking the trend...which is down.
Well, for them.
