We'll all get hit with something. All will be hit and miss, light and heavy in an unpredictable fashion.

Any rain in the hills anywhere in CA is a bad thing after having prior recent rain.

At least if you reach Barstow you are in some part of civilization and can get dry.
Don't know what people do in the middle of nowhere in floods.

The flooding came under our freight door, basement is below ground level. The city system filled up and let us have it back...we're sandbagged now and we have folks doing water watch to ensure things hold, I'm just the one incharge of the water watch and didn't have anyone set up for the 11pm shift.

Did you guys use some waterproof caulking?

I would caulk the door from 36" down outside and inside before the sandbags went down. To help seal the water out.

The cost would be about $20 to use calking.

Humm good idea. We used plastic sheeting and then the sandbags. All is dry and snug. The pump is working and I don't expect we'll have any problem unless the LA River fills up again.

Our building is near Glenoaks and Hollywood Way. We own the building. The Estates and Landlord folks are very good at keeping it up. They will handle it so even if the LA River lands in our back yard it won't flood the building again! Emergency pump to pull the water into the parking lot is one idea I heard bantered around last evening.

Several people I talked to today said they never remember it raining as hard as it did last night...
At 3 a.m. IT WOKE ME UP! I couldn't believe it. It was deafening. Freaky.

And it's pouring again. Right now. It just. Won't. Stop.
