"GRAND FORKS, N.D., Feb. 16 - From a chenille-slipcovered sofa in the basement of their friend Dave's mom's house at the edge of a snow-covered field, Brad and Other Brad, sock-footed pioneers in the latest technology revolution, are recording "Why Fish," their weekly show.
Clutching a microphone and leaning over a laptop on the coffee table, they praise the beauty of the Red River, now frozen on the edge of town, and plug an upcoming interview with a top-ranked professional walleye fisherman. Then they sign off.
"I'm Brad" says Brad, in real life, Brad Durick, a 29-year-old television advertising salesman.
"And I'm Brad," says Other Brad, a 44-year-old newspaper writer, Brad Dokken. "Until next week, keep your hook in the water, keep your line tight and keep it fun.""

Is this another tribute to Apple and all things I-Pod? If Steve Jobs invented podcasts, wait til Microsoft comes up with a competing format.

I'm a Microsoft kind of guy myself and don't particulary care for Apple, mainly because they only have about 10% market share and because of general software incompatability problems with the other 90% of the world.
The podcasts are done in mp3 format and can be played on any computer that has an mp3 player.

Is this another tribute to Apple and all things I-Pod? Pretty much. Podcasts aren't really too convenient with other players, because transferring a twenty or thirty meg file without firewire is a bit tedious.

I'll be interested to hear the buzz when apple has 90% of the "digital lifestyle" market, and you guys are left trying to defend your high-speed abacuses.

I'll be interested to hear of a Mac user who knows how to do more with a computer than turn it on, change the channel, and adjust the volume.

Their [audio] show, mostly ad-libbed, is a podcast, a kind of recording that, thanks to a technology barely six months old, anyone can make on a computer and then post to a Web site, where it can be downloaded to an iPod or any MP3 player to be played at the listener's leisure. This could be hugh. Is Radio Free Republic doing this??? If not, why not?? The original sin of MSM broadcasting is its dependence on the government to censor the great unwashed so that the "elite" may be given what amounts to a title of nobility - a broadcast license certifying that what it says is "in the public interest." This is the sort of technology which produces similar functionality for we-the-people to be hearable as widely as Jennings, Brokaw and Rather have been hearable.
MSM broadcasting is already far left, and part of its tendentiousness lies in its claim that it is not partisan.
