A Way to Save Terri Schiavo
wotan | Feb 18, 2005 | wotan

Here's a way Jeb Bush may be able to save Terry Schiavo: Open an investigation into the possible assault that led to her comatose condition. Have the state pay for her maintenance to "preserve the evidence" and pay for language therapy for her so she can tell us what she knows about how she got into the coma. It struck me that the reason her husband wants her dead might be because he's afraid of what she'll say if she recovers. I don't see how a judge could possibly deny the state the right to preserve evidence of a serious assault.

Hope she's not dead yet.

You're welcome. Bookmark and use those links to fight the outdated beliefs being used as a reason to kill Terri.

"These people need to face facts. Terri is decerebrated, she's not getting any better, ever."

Even if you're right, should Terri be killed by starvation?

Terri's brother Bobby just now on Hannity & Colmes (with Michelle Malkin sitting in for Hannity) said there is no evidence of an eating disorder.

Thank you very much for your kind words.

As of this moment I could plead my case in different words and thoughts, but I don't want to be redundant. I will say however that it's important to look at this case in its entirety, because physicians do have different opinions, and scientific study when scrutinized can be rejected (and for good cause). Even the theory of evolution, once so popular, is losing its credibility as modern technology emerges. In any event, Heisenberg, I respect your opinion, although I will continue to try and change it.

Theologically speaking, I am encouraged to learn that you agree humans have a soul. I vehemently disagree that Terri's soul is not with her, and guess that many would disagree with you as well. I recommend reading the bible (if Christian) because answers to these sort of questions are there for the asking ("Seek and you shall find").

"I don't believe that Terri Schiavo would benefit from any of the current therapies available. This was also the judgment of her medical insurance company after the early rehabilitation efforts indicated no improvement."

Seems to me they didn't try hard enough. You must admit that over the past 10 years new therapies have been developed. Why hasn't Terri had the opportunity to try any of these? The lawsuit that was won was supposed to pay for rehabilitation. By not pursuing therapy for Terri, Michael is at the very least negligent, don't you agree?

also was brought up by Allen about there being statements about strangulation concerning Terri, on the night in question. Glad that was brought up....it was a first for many ignorant people to hear about this. (I mean ignorant, in that the media certainly has not gotten that out into their news reports, ever that I can recall.)

Most are only vaguely aware of the case, and hold the intentionally inaccurate views spewed by Michael Schiavo and his hired guns.

I find people are receptive to a true telling and outraged at what they hear.

If we encourage Fox to be more forthcoming on this case, they may respond with better coverage.

I emailed Greta, Roger Ailes, Michelle Malkin.

I think that's very true, Phil. What really bothers me is the intentional DISinformation concerning Terri and HINO.

You have no control over this Schivao situation. You are irrelevant! What concern do you have whether she lives or dies! Why can't the husband just give up? Why is he so reluctant? New wife/kids? BS..what is left of the $$? Amazingly, he has spent all of Terri's money on HIS attorney's.

"I think she likes me."

Indeed I do, but I like "Heisenberg" infinitely more, as that is a very rational person, and you are the exact opposite. Really like your little picture pop up though. Our side had a bit of a win today, don't ya know. Yawn, good nite.

But I know and remember that God is always in control. He is watching this play out.

As pertains to those involved with Terri's demise, whether they are active participants, enablers, or those with malice thoughts who just wish for her (and those who are disabled like her) to be killed, each will have their Judgment Day--God sees our actions and knows our hearts and He will hold each one of us accountable not only for evil deeds but for evil thoughts and purposes.

We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourself--that's good enough reason for concern about Terri and what is being done to her, by so many, but most especially, by the man she married and whose duty before God was to love her and protect her, through sickness and health.

Hi Raquel
I too appreciate your well thought out comments and am glad you responded to me. A talk show host today brought up a good point: Why are we denying Terri her entrance to heaven, if as Christians, we believe there is an afterlife? Would not her soul be free, and she would be free from the body she occupies here? (He didn't say that part).

What I was saying that Terri's case is extreme and NOT like a c section (refering to your C section). She has been in this state for 15 years. When you get right down to it, MEDICAL SCIENCE is playing god, no matter which way you look at it. As Christians, why deny this person, who is being fed thru a tube, her rightful place in heaven?

Hi Merri,

"Why are we denying Terri her entrance to heaven, if as Christians, we believe there is an afterlife? Would not her soul be free, and she would be free from the body she occupies here? (He didn't say that part)."

Terri's body is hers, no matter how incapacitated she may be, it is not our decision to take it away from her. Using that argument is a cop-out because it can be used in any situation where someone is sick. But where's the threshold, who decides who's sick enough to die (it's a slippery slope my friend to say the least)? Nonetheless I'll entertain your proposition, say my body was filled with cancer, and I am in pain, but I offer my sufferings to God, because it is in suffering that we may have eternal life (that's in the bible too!), and I know that killing is a mortal sin, there is no way I would want to be killed, and even if I wasn't faith-filled, no one has the right to kill me! Mercy killing is (in plain English) misguided murder. The culture of death degrades human life and is against God. So in answer to your questions, no no no no no! But thanks for you're thoughtful comments.

"Terri's body is hers, no matter how incapacitated she may be, it is not our decision to take it away from her."

But her parents think that her body is theirs. I don't think its our decision to help her to live either. How many of us here on the list would make the choice to live the way she is living? We all need living wills and if anything, we need to do something about getting them asap. I think we can all agree this is a very very horribly sad situation for all involved. Take care.

Help her to live? Yes, don't you see? We have to, they're trying to kill her!

They are trying to let her die, which is not the same as killing.
