PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)-Howard Dean, the newly minted leader of the Democratic Party, and former Pentagon advisor Richard Perle made clear their opposing views on the war in Iraq during a debate marred by a protester who tossed a shoe at Perle.

Perle had just started his comments Thursday when a protester threw a shoe at him before being dragged away, screaming, "Liar! Liar!"

This is the debate that Dean wanted to be off the record. There isn't much depth to the article. I wonder if there isn't something else out there. (This is not a criticism of the post.)

Dean also said the Bush administration has ignored the mounting threat in Iran and North Korea. "We picked the low hanging fruit in Iraq and did nothing" about the other, more dangerous regimes, he said.

And so, the Democratic Party solution is . . . what?

Perle had his own barbs, too. He began his opening comments in the 1 1/2-hour debate by saying Democrats "looked at the Democratic Party and chose a physician to lead them."

The patient, I fear, is terminally beyond any hope of cure.

You can bet there is. This shoe incident will be the tip of the iceberg. I met a Deaniac on a flight from BWI-STL. He was an absolute whacko....Just like Dean..

From a similar (maybe duplicate) thread, the shoe-tosser used profane language, and did NOT say "Liar Lair" as the newspapers are reporting. The screamed words were actually "Mother-f***ing Liar!!!" according to the person who made the below post ...

Wonder what kind of shoe it was? An orthopedic shoe or perhaps a sandal? The ortho would do more damage vs. the sandal.

So did Perle win the debate or did Dean lose?

Hey at least in the early 1960s the Russian leader knew enough about Capitalism and repected or feared Capitalism enough to hang on to his shoe after taking it off to make a display.

Just think if they had not caught the guy immediately--bet he would have gotten away--NOT
How many one shoed guys attended that debate anyway?

Their solution is to be consistent and do nothing with respect to all 3 murderous regimes.

... and the woman walks outside to be interviewed by the press, and she says: "Due to the policies of Republicans, I cannot even afford two shoes. I'm not only voiceless, I'm shoeless...And I'm hungry. Can you buy me a Big Mac?"
