The Catechism of the Catholic Church
Euthanasia
2276 Those whose lives are diminished or weakened deserve special respect. Sick or handicapped persons should be helped to lead lives as normal as possible.
2277 Whatever its motives and means, direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick, or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable.
Thus an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator. The error of judgment into which one can fall in good faith does not change the nature of this murderous act, which must always be forbidden and excluded.
2278 Discontinuing medical procedures that are burdensome, dangerous, extraordinary, or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be legitimate; it is the refusal of "over-zealous" treatment. Here one does not will to cause death; one's inability to impede it is merely accepted. The decisions should be made by the patient if he is competent and able or, if not, by those legally entitled to act for the patient, whose reasonable will and legitimate interests must always be respected.
2279 Even if death is thought imminent, the ordinary care owed to a sick person cannot be legitimately interrupted. The use of painkillers to alleviate the sufferings of the dying, even at the risk of shortening their days, can be morally in conformity with human dignity if death is not willed as either an end or a means, but only foreseen and tolerated as inevitable Palliative care is a special form of disinterested charity. As such it should be encouraged.
You're welcome. I found it fascinating that nurses are testifying that Michael tampered with nursing records.
I wish I could've worked as her nurse, as my patient's advocate - I'd be sure to walk in and see what he was doing to her.
Sounds like he messed with the diet too, if her blood sugar levels were altered. Or could that happen just from stress?
Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Catholic Discussion Ping List.
It makes you wonder what he was doing and saying to her. You have to be really evil to antagonize a woman in her condition.
PING! Thank you!
If I was her mother, I think I may have seen that Michael had an "accident" a long time ago.
You're welcome. One of the best articles I have seen about what is really happening with Terri.
What was the Florida law struck down by the court? Shouldn't the Florida legislature simply pass a law stating that all indigent individuals involved in court cases be appointed attorneys?
I cannot believe Greer is still handing this case. I still say he's an interest in the book Michael's lawyer is writing - the one about how he telepathically hears comatose patients telling him how much they want to die - OR that the medical community has been so negligent regarding her care and rehabilitation, all at the order of the man who tried to kill her in the first place.
bttt
This thread needs your chart that was posted on the other thread!!
MS is one heck of a law breaker! He doesn't live up to his responsibilities as guardian which are required by Florida law and Judge Greer is right alongside him!!
What did Michael do? His second worse nightmare, Terri speaks. His worse nightmare, he "rides the lightning".
Dear God, save her in spite of all the harm they want to do to this dear woman. Bring JUSTICE to Terry and NEW LIFE!
Maybe we could convince the soldier who thinks killing folks is fun, especially men who misuse their wives, to umm, do something creative to Michael. JOKE< JOKE, of course!
