This weekend I attended my daughter's gymnastics meet. I sat in front of a mother who was telling a woman beside he that she wished her daughter (approx 10 years old) would get her naval pierced. She thought it wold look "darling."

I think some kids are simply not taught modesty. It's not hard. We just need to parent our young.

I have a beautiful daughter, and I've taught her to be modest. She actually enjoys being known for her long, spiraling old fashioned skirts, and refuses to wear shorter skirts unless they're skorts, which keep her covered.

It started when she was young, and we taught her to keep her knees together and her feet on the floor when she wore skirts, because "ladies did not show their underware." Since she's a gymnast, I tell her to wear pants if she thinks she might be tempted to do her flips, even if she's just hanging out with her family.

Excellent point.
We are teaching our daughter the same thing and she hasn't complaint yet.
Have you noticed that they don't make clothes like they used to?
I even have problems finding shirts that go lower than the midriff ,that are still fashionable and not to"old lady"like.I always buy my shirts and my daughters shirts one or two sizes bigger to cover the mid section.

The birth of the feminist movement and undressed women went hand in hand for awhile. Through the mid-seventies, women were going braless, wearing skirts that their underwear stuck out of, and of course, hotpants. Though many of today's fashions are revealing, they aren't like those days.

Today's feminists are a bunch of angry nags that have condoned dressing completely in black pantsuits ever since Anita Hill. Janet Reno basically shut down late night television in late 1993 on the grounds that it had too much sex and violence. Gilbert Gottfried's very risque program on the USA Network was one of the programs to go by the wayside. Next thing you know we had all infomertials for late night TV. The feminists are now the Orwellian "anti-sex" league, except when it involves lesbian sex.

I don't deny that today's young girls dress provocatively, though nothing like in 1971. But the reason they do it is social. Those citing MTV and the teen magazines are entirely correct. But the feminists would have women dressing like men. This ain't about them.
