Greenpeace tries to halt trading

Greenpeace attempted to stop trading at the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) in the city of London on the day the Kyoto Protocol comes into force.

They claimed to have stormed the building near Tower Bridge, in central London and halted trading on the floor. But IPE said trading had not ceased.

Scotland Yard said they were aware of the protest but could not confirm if protesters had got into the building.

The Kyoto accord aims to curb air pollution blamed for global warming.

Stephen Tindale, from Greenpeace, said: "Climate change poses the gravest threat our planet has ever faced, yet oil is traded in this place with impunity as if the lives of millions and the future of whole species mean nothing.

"This madness has to end, it's that simple. Today, as Kyoto becomes law, we ask the world to take a deep breath and consider where our oil addiction is taking us."

I am sick of these misguided anarchists. Do they want to live in the dark and cold? These fools enjoy the highest standard of living on the planet and can not appreciate it. They should be tossed out of our societies.

My eyes are failing me, I thought it said Greenspan and I said why would greenspan try to stop trading...

Just remember sports fans, their environuts will need a job someday and will get into government because they are not smart enough for the private sector and they will then try to control the world from that point.

They are a long term problem we need to address.

I wonder if Mr. Tindale drove a car to get there.

oh, the BBC.

the rest of the story is that the traders did what any decent human beings would do when a band of lunatics attempts to disrupt them in the course of business: they kicked the ever loving sh*t out of them.

Greenpiece's girly-men have been asking for this for years.
