Washington, D.C. (CNSNews.com) - David Brock, a former investigative reporter for conservative publications before flipping his political ideology and writing a book titled, "Blinded by the Right," said Monday that the best way for liberals to expose the current conservative influence in the media is to show how conservatives are "simply willing to lie."
Brock is currently the president and CEO of Media Matters for America, a liberal media watchdog that takes on some of the biggest names in conservative media. In authoring the 2002 book, "Blinded by the Right, The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative," Brock not only distanced himself from the conservative movement, he disclosed his homosexuality.
Monday, he noted examples of how the "professional" or "mainstream media" are influenced by conservative talk radio, the Internet and think tanks. That influence, Brock said, will diminish as the conservative "lies" are exposed.
"The conservatives seem to be particularly vulnerable because the quality of their research is particularly low. There is typically self-interested money behind it and of course they are simply willing to lie," Brock told a group of interns at a luncheon at the Center for American Progress headquarters in Washington D.C.
Brock urged the young media activists to challenge what he views as the conservative media bias.
"I think that all of that has to be confronted in a systemic way. If you shine light on propaganda over time, it does cease to have an effect," Brock said. "Their words can be used against them. The fact that the claims that they make are often dubious can also be brought up in a very effective way," he added.

Why is it clear to almost noone that it is impossible to be "bigoted" against an activity?
Noone calls anyone who opposes burglary or embezzlement a "bigot" - that title is reserved only for those who oppose sodomy.
Who is this?
Accurate concision is hardly name-calling. Especially regarding a group that likes to chant "We're Here, We're Queer."
Or were you one of those who were offended by Senator Clinton being called a carpetbagger?
the best way for liberals to expose the current conservative influence in the media is to show how conservatives are "simply willing to lie."
I had to think about this. "Simply willing to lie." Well, let's see.. the left has coined the liberal mantra "Bush Lied". Ergo, by extension he's asserting here that Bush voters also lie? Hmmm... It is a known fact that former President Clinton had oral sex in the office, so does this mean that all Dem voters do to?
I don't get the gist of his article except, my gut take upon first perusal. It's a warning. "They lie, so we should too!"
I'd never encourage interns, children, adults to lie. Lying makes your nose grow warts.
I think this pretty much says it all. Brock was never a conservative. Just a liberal Marxist in conservative clothing. As to exposing conservative lies, don't make me laugh. Most liberal media types would rather clime a tree to tell a lie than stand on level ground and tell the truth.
If this is his strategy for defeating conservatives, I say...BRING IT ON!
How come these Lefty's never mention what these "lies" are? I would like to see where there is any "Conservative influence" in MSM as well. Please Brock, give us specifics.
WOW! I could really do without that mental picture. DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!.....
That logic makes perfect sense to me.. It's just a continuing mantra to discredit conservative voices and hope keep the same ol' rats following their snarky pied-piper.
"Accurate concision is hardly name-calling"
I find the term "faggot" offensive. Period. It's in the same category as "nigger".
Until you learn the difference between a person's ethnicity and a person's voluntary leisure activities, you should take a refresher course in logic.
Do find the term "button man" to be an offensive term for a hired killer?
Do you find the term "southpaw" to be an offensive term for a left-handed pitcher?
Does it raise your hackles when someone says "leatherneck" instead of Marine?
Does it enrage you to hear a doctor referred to as a "sawbones"?
Would you file a civil rights complaint if people called you a "rookie" your first day on a new job?
LOL! Hooooeeeaaaarrrgggghhhhh! Gee, never heard of this guy, and I started reading the story because I was intrigued by why someone would switch from conservatism to liberalism, since it always seems to go the opposite way, and then the article arrives at this! He's got a mental disorder and he likes to play with penises! I still have yet to see a "normal" person make the switch!
sorry for the langauge, but i just wanted to point out the wholesome values of the site sean hanity says 'represents all that is great about this country"
These people feel so emboldened that they don't even try to hide their bigotry any more-even under the thin veil of "defending tradfition"
here's the homophobic line, posted by wideawake - who tags his name w/ (God bless our brave soldiers and their Commander in Chief):
"David Brock and Andrew Sullivan exist for one purpose: to remind real conservatives that there is no such thing as a conservative faggot."
How is that "homophobic"?? I see no fear of faggotdom in that line, simply a statement of fact. Is "faggot' somehow a "bad word" now? Faggots call each other faggots all the time. Somehow this DUmmie finds God blessing our troops and Commander in Chief offensive. At least this one isn't concealing his bigotry. It seems this DUmmie also believes that saying what is obvious and truthful is somehow "bigotry". This DUmmie needs to look up the definition of "homophobic" and "bigot". It seems to me that he is his own worst enemy.
JJ -- I wonder if David Brock really believes it; or it is just "politics". Is he a "true believer"? Hmm.
Odd how a similar 5th columnist is exposed, then brock pops up.
Winner!
I am as frustrated with anyone with the direction that Andrew Sullivan has taken. But, let's not compare him to David Brock just because they are both homosexuals.
Brock is a scurrilous liar and a phoney. Sullivan is an intellectual with some conservative views, but was seduced into the HateBush camp. Although I no longer read his blogs (too much on gay marriage), I still have hope for him. Brock is a lost cause.
He wishes he could do that.
Oh please. Of course the term "faggot" is offensive. Regardless of how hard you try to justify it's use, or whether you care or not, the fact is that in most of the civilised world people will frown upon the use of the word "faggot" much than the terms "rookie" or "southpaw".
Exactly. Homosexuals have been very diligent at trying to equate actions with ethnicity.
