THE DEAN DOSSIER (research information on DNC Chair Howard Dean posted here)

This thread is being mounted for the purpose of compiling a dossier on Howard Dean, newly-crowned chair of the Democratic National Committee.

The thread will hopefully serve as a research point for conservatives needing background on Dean and the Dims political activties.

We intend to expose and refute any attempts by Dean to finesse or mispreresent his or the Democrat party's positions on issues near and dear to conservatives.

A recent Gallup poll said that while 70% of the DNC think the DNC needs an overhaul to change the way they are doing things (to try and emulate Republicans' successful grassroots approach) but only 7% thought the DNC should change their positions on issues.

Even more chilling for Dims, is that 2004 Election polls indicate 34% called themselves conservative, 21% liberal

BACKGROUND: Over the weekend, newly-crowned DNC chair Howard Dean declared "I hate Republicans." Dean then preceeded to demean Christian conservatives.

At the televised DNC "meeting" a so-called "reverend" gave a "benediction." The Democrat "reverend" quoted scripture from Jeremiah, inserting "Republicans" whenever the text refered to "evil people"--and she exhorted Howard Dean to be strong and take them on.

Howard Dean nodded happily and gracefully accepted this so-called benediction. Dean then proclaimed Republicans lack moral values. "How can Republicans get to talk about moral values when they don't have any?" Dean asked condescendingly. "I don't want to hear any lectures about Christian values from the Republican Party — they are the Pharisees and the Sadducees," Dean said — referring to religious sects condemned by Jesus, who Christ referred to as a "brood of vipers."

Clearly, loser Dumbocrats--out in the cold with a dwindling voter base---will need this "brood of vipers"---Republicans of faith----to win anything. Now the Dims are sending out mixed signals; Hillary slithers slowly to the right, while Chairman Howie declares war on Christians.

Howard oughta study up on American history, and heed the words of distinguished early Americans:

"Christianity is part of the Common, or Natural Law. Therefore it is Christianity that is the basis of our government. Religion of any other type is not synonymous with the American experience of Liberty!" Justice James Wilson signer of the Declaration, the Constitution, Original Justice on the U. S. Supreme Court, and the father of the first organized legal training in America.

"It is the duty as well as the privilege and interest for our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians to be their representatives, as this is a Christian republic." Justice John Jay Supreme Court Justice

This is what Howie and the Dim Christian-haters are up against.

Conservative pro-life Christian voters made monumental contributions to GWB's 2004 vote totals. Pres Bush won with 63 Million Votes (13 million more than 2000).

The map, though impressive, conveys the misleading impression that blue state Catholics voted for Kerry (a CINO).

According to EWTN "The World Over Live" analysts, with the exception of VA, where Catholics spit 70/30 in favor of Bush, the majority of Catholic voters split 55/45 for Bush.....a whopping number of votes since Catholics number about 52 million Americans.

According to CNN exit polls, Bush voters included 38% of union members, 40% of those with union members in their households, 42% of those earning $15,000-$30,000, 44% of those who earn under $50,000 and 44% of Latinos, 45% of youth (aged 18-29), 13% of liberals—even 11% of Democrats voted for Bush.

If you look closely, the map appears to place the insignificant "Other Voters" in the ocean.....that's accurate, because "Other Voters--RINO Republicans" were on cruise ships.

Tina Flournoy – Head of Transition

Tina Flournoy has been actively involved in Democratic Party politics for nearly 20 years. She is Assistant to the President of the American Federation of Teachers, focusing on public policy. Flournoy was the finance director for the Gore for President Campaign, political director for Vice Presidential nominee Joe Lieberman, and deputy campaign manager for the 1996 Clinton/Gore re-election campaign. She was counsel to the DNC and general counsel for the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Flournoy has also served as staff director and co-chair of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee, and now serves as a member of the Committee. She has been a DNC member since 1996.

Alexandra Gallardo-Rooker

Born in Mexico City, Gallardo-Rooker became an American citizen in 1990. As a member of the Communications Workers of America, Local #9400, Gallardo-Rooker first became involved in the labor movement, devoting her life fighting for the rights of workers everywhere. She was elected First Vice-Chair for the California Democratic Party in 2001, and is currently a DNC member.

Ben Jeffers

Jeffers served as the Chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party from 1997 through 2003. During his tenure as Chair, Louisiana re-elected both of their Democratic U.S. senators and replaced a Republican governor with current Democratic Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. Jeffers is a former member of the DNC and has served as Chair of the DNC Southern Caucus.

Joe Johnson

A political veteran, in 1988 Johnson served as deputy campaign manager for both Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Presidential campaign and later Michael Dukakis’. From 1987 to 1992, Johnson served as executive director of the Rainbow PUSH coalition, while also working on Douglas Wilder’s successful election as Virginia’s first African American governor. Johnson most recently served as senior advisor to Virginia Governor Mark Warner and today runs his own political consulting firm.

Maura Keefe

Keefe served as a senior advisor to the DNC during the 2004 election cycle and was responsible for the largest surrogate program in the history of the DNC. Keefe has previously worked with Dean as a senior advisor during his 2004 presidential campaign. From 1993-2000, Keefe served as press secretary and chief of staff to United States Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-C).

Lindsay Lewis

Prior to his appointment at the DNC as the new finance director, Lewis served as Finance Director for Dean’s grassroots organization, Democracy for America, after working in the fundraising department at Dean for America. A member of the finance team for Chris Van Hollen's successful 2002 congressional campaign, Lewis was a fundraiser for Democratic Leader Representative Richard Gephardt from 1992 to 1999.

Steve McMahon

Steve McMahon is a media consultant and strategic advisor to Democratic candidates for federal and statewide office and is a founding partner of McMahon, Squier, & Associates. McMahon worked as a political strategist and media consultant and has worked on Presidential, Senate, Gubernatorial and Mayoral campaigns across the country, and was a principle strategist for Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign as well as his race for DNC Chair.

Tom McMahon

Tom McMahon has worked in Democratic politics and government for almost 15 years and most recently served as executive director for Democracy for America. Prior to joining Democracy for America, he served as a deputy campaign manager for Gov. Howard Dean's presidential campaign. President Bill Clinton appointed McMahon as the White House liaison at the United States Information Agency and as a public affairs officer at the Department of Defense.

Tom Ochs

A former partner at the media firm Squier, Knapp, Ochs, who managed Dean’s campaign for DNC Chair, Ochs currently works with Steve McMahon and Mark Squier at McMahon, Squier & Associates. He has worked at every level of political campaigns - from advance to campaign manager –and has consulted on various campaigns, including those of Senators Bob Graham and Evan Bayh and Governor Ann Richards. In 2000, Ochs served as senior advisor to DNC Chair Joe Andrew and consultant to the 2000 Democratic National Convention. He has also served as political director for the New Democrat Network.

Mona Pasquil

A native of California, Pasquil most recently served on the senior staff for the Kerry Edwards presidential campaign as director of community outreach. A longtime leader in the Asian Pacific Islander American community, Pasquil previously served as political director for Governor Gray Davis, California political director for Gore/Lieberman 2000, deputy CEO for the 2000 Democratic National Convention, western political director in the Clinton White House, western political desk and director of Asian Pacific affairs at the DNC. She is a current DNC member.

Mame Reiley

Reiley serves as director of Virginia Governor Mark Warner's political action committee, One Virginia, and is current chair of the DNC’s Women’s Caucus. She has also worked as a grassroots activist as a part of several social justice movements, including civil rights, rights for migrant farm workers, and voting registration initiatives. Reiley has served as a member of the DNC and the Women's Caucus for the past 11 years.

New DNC Head Dean Hopes to Rebuild Party

WASHINGTON - New national Democratic Chairman Howard
Dean promised Saturday to rebuild the party in the most conservative regions of the country, help develop state and local organizations and let congressional Democrats set the tone on policy. Electing Dean on a voice vote during their winter meeting, Democrats put the party's leadership in the hands of the skilled fund-raiser and organizer whose sometimes caustic, blunt comments can lead to controversy.

The physician now must contend with a state-by-state political map in which Republican red overwhelms Democratic blue. "I'll pretty much be living in red states in the South and West for quite a while," Dean told reporters. "The way to get people not to be skeptical about you is to show up and say what you think."

The normally outspoken Dean appeared to be trying to shift his role from flamboyant presidential candidate to cautious party chairman. "The proper place for the day-to-day battles is Congress," Dean said in response to a question about his opposition to the war in Iraq. "My views are well known, but most of the policy pronouncements will be coming from the leaders in Congress and not from me."

Dean has plenty of other chores to keep him busy. President Bush just won his second term. Republicans are firmly in control of the House and the Senate. And the GOP is gaining strength in conservative states in the South and West. The former Vermont governor promised to learn how Democrats can communicate positions more effectively. Dean says that no one is "pro-abortion," but "we are the party in favor of allowing women to make up their
own minds about their health care." And Democrats are not for "gay marriage," but "we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people," he says.

Dean is determined to seize the moral high ground from Republicans, arguing Democratic positions on helping the poor and protecting children are consistent with religious values. The new chairman sounded like a man in a hurry: "Republicans wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before regaining Congress.... The American people cannot afford to wait 40 years for us to regain control in Washington and put the government back to work for Americans."

Dean has been criticizing Republicans all week and has promised to stay on the offensive, but GOP Chairman Ken Mehlman contacted Dean to congratulate him and then put out a statement describing Dean as "a strong leader for his party." The kid-glove treatment is unlikely to last.

Reminded Saturday that former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich had said Dean would be the perfect leader for Democrats if they have a "death wish," Dean smiled broadly and said: "I'm looking forward to the
opportunity to prove Newt wrong."

On Saturday, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts gave the DNC another $225,000, donated by Kerry supporters, for grass-roots development. The 2004 presidential nominee gave $1 million last week.

As Dean takes on his new DNC duties, his brother Jim takes over the former governor's political action committee — Democracy for America. Howard Dean replaces outgoing party chief Terry McAuliffe, who raised more money than Republicans in the last election cycle, developed a sophisticated voter file and e-mail list, and left the party in the black after the presidential election.

Democrats generally sounded an optimistic tone about Dean, hoping for the best from their new chairman who is attempting to show more restraint. When Dean was asked about anonymous criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, he quickly brushed it aside, saying, "I'm not going to respond to blind quotes."
